| 1 | イスラエルの家よヱホバの汝らに語たまふ言をきけ | Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: |
| 2 | ヱホバかくいひたまふ汝ら異邦人の途に效ふ勿れ異邦人は天にあらはるる徴を懼るるとも汝らはこれを懼るる勿れ | Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. |
| 3 | 異國人の風俗はむなしその崇むる者は林より斫たる木にして木匠の手に斧をもて作りし者なり | For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. |
| 4 | 彼らは銀と金をもてこれを飾り釘と鎚をもて之を堅めて搖動かざらしむ | They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. |
| 5 | こは圓き柱のごとくにして言はずまた歩むこと能はざるによりて人にたづさへらる是は災害をくだし亦は福祉をくだすの權なきによりて汝らこれを畏るる勿れ | They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. |
| 6 | ヱホバよ汝に比ふべき者なし汝は大なり汝の名は其權威のために大なり | Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord; thou art great, and thy name is great in might. |
| 7 | 汝萬國の王たる者よ誰か汝を畏れざるべきや汝を畏るるは當然なりそは萬國のすべての博士たちのうちにもその諸國のうちにも汝に比ふべき者なければなり | Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee. |
| 8 | 彼らはみな獸のことくまた痴愚なり虛しき者の敎は惟木のみ | But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities. |
| 9 | タルシシより携へ來し銀箔ウパズより携へ來し金は鍛冶と鑄匠の作りし物なり靑と紫をその衣となす是はすべて巧みなる細工人の工作なり | Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men. |
| 10 | ヱホバは眞の神なり彼は活る神なり永遠の王なり其怒によりて地は震ふ萬國はその憤怒にあたること能はず | But the Lord is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. |
| 11 | 汝等かく彼らにいふべし天地を造らざりし諸神は地の上よりこの天の下より失さらんと | Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens. |
| 12 | ヱホバはその能をもて地をつくり其智慧をもて世界を建てその明哲をもて天を舒べたまへり | He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. |
| 13 | かれ聲をいだせば天に衆の水ありかれ雲を地の極よりいだし電と雨をおこし風をその府庫よりいだす | When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures. |
| 14 | すべての人は獸の如くにして智なしすべての鑄匠はその作りし像のために辱をとる其鑄るところの像は僞物にしてその中に靈魂なければなり | Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. |
| 15 | 是らは虛き者にして迷妄の工作なりその罰せらるるときに滅ぶべし | They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish. |
| 16 | ヤコブの分は是のごとくならず彼は萬物の造化主なりイスラエルはその產業の杖なりその名は萬軍のヱホバといふなり | The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The Lord of hosts is his name. |
| 17 | 圍の中に坐する者よ汝の包を地より取りあげよ | Gather up thy wares out of the land, O inhabitant of the fortress. |
| 18 | ヱホバかくいひたまふみよ我この地にすめる者を此度擲たん且かれらをせめなやまして擄へられしむべし | For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this once, and will distress them, that they may find it so. |
| 19 | われ毀傷をうく嗚呼われは禍なるかな我傷は重し我いふこれまことにわが患難なりわれ之を忍べし | Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous: but I said, Truly this is a grief, and I must bear it. |
| 20 | わが幕屋はやぶれわが繩索は悉く斷れ我衆子は我をすてゆきて居ずなりぬ幕屋を張る者なくわが幃をかくる者なし | My tabernacle is spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains. |
| 21 | 牧者は愚にしてヱホバを求めず故に利達ずその群はみな散れり | For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the Lord: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered. |
| 22 | きけよ風聲あり北の國より大なる騒きたる是ユダの諸邑を荒して山犬の巢となさん | Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons. |
| 23 | ヱホバよわれ知る人の途は自己によらず且歩行む人は自らその歩履を定むること能はざるなり | O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. |
| 24 | ヱホバよ我を懲したまへ但道にしたがひ怒らずして懲したまへおそらくは我無に歸せん | O Lord, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing. |
| 25 | 汝を知ざる國人と汝の名を龥ざる族に汝の怒を斟ぎたまへ彼らはヤコブを噬ひ之をくらふて滅しその牧場を荒したればなり | Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate. |
