1 ダビデ老てその日滿ければその子ソロモンをイスラエルの王となせり So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
2 ダビデ、イスラエルの一切の牧伯および祭司とレビ人をあつめたり And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.
3 レビ人の三十歳以上なる者を數へたるにその人々の頭數は三萬八千 Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.
4 その中二萬四千はヱホバの室の事幹を掌どり六千は有司および裁判人たり Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the Lord; and six thousand were officers and judges:
5 四千は門を守る者たりまた四千はダビデが造れる讃美の樂器をとりてヱホバを頌ることをせり Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the Lord with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.
6 ダビデ、レビの子孫を分ちて班列を立たり即ちゲルシヨン、コハテおよびメラリ And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi, namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
7 ゲルシヨン人たる者はラダンおよびシメイ Of the Gershonites were, Laadan, and Shimei.
8 ラダンの子等は長エヒエルにゼタムとヨエル合せて三人 The sons of Laadan; the chief was Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.
9 シメイの子等はシロミテ、ハジエル、ハランの三人是等はラダンの宗家の長たり The sons of Shimei; Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the chief of the fathers of Laadan.
10 シメイの子等はヤハテ、ジナ、ヱウシ、ベリア この四人はシメイの子なり And the sons of Shimei were, Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.
11 ヤハデは長 ジナはその次 ヱウシ、ベリアは子多からざるが故に之をともに數へて一の宗家となせり And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they were in one reckoning, according to their father’s house.
12 コハテの子等はアムラム、イヅハル、ヘブロン、ウジエルの四人 The sons of Kohath; Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.
13 アムラムの子等はアロンとモーセ、アロンはその子等とともに永く區別れてその身を潔めて至聖者となりヱホバの前に香を焚き之に事へ恒にこれが名をもて祝することを爲り The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the Lord, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever.
14 神の人モーセの子等はレビの支派の中に數へいれらる Now concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.
15 モーセの子等はゲルシヨンおよびエリエゼル The sons of Moses were, Gershom, and Eliezer.
16 ゲルシヨンの子等は長はシブエル Of the sons of Gershom, Shebuel was the chief.
17 エリエゼルの子等は長はレハビヤ、エリエゼルは此外に男子あらざりき但しレハビヤの子等は甚だ多かりき And the sons of Eliezer were, Rehabiah the chief. And Eliezer had none other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.
18 イヅハルの子等は長はシロミテ Of the sons of Izhar; Shelomith the chief.
19 ヘブロンの子等は長子はヱリヤ その次はアマリヤ その三はヤハジエル その四はヱカメアム Of the sons of Hebron; Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
20 ウジエルの子等は長子はミカ 次はヱシヤ Of the sons of Uzziel; Michah the first, and Jesiah the second.
21 メラリの子等はマヘリおよびムシ、マヘリの子等はエレアザルおよびキシ The sons of Merari; Mahli, and Mushi. The sons of Mahli; Eleazar, and Kish.
22 エレアザルは男子なくして死り惟女子ありし而已その女子等はキシの子たるその兄弟等これを娶れり And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them.
23 ムシの子等はマヘリ、エデル、ヱレモテの三人 The sons of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.
24 レビの子孫をその宗家に循ひて言ば是のごとし是皆かの頭數を數へられその名を録されてヱホバの家の役事をなせる二十歳以上の者の宗家の長なり These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the Lord, from the age of twenty years and upward.
25 ダビデ言けらくイスラエルの神ヱホバその民を安んじて永くヱルサレムに住たまふ For David said, The Lord God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:
26 レビ人はまた重ねて幕屋およびその奉事の器具を舁ことあらずと And also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.
27 ダビデの最後の詞にしたがひてレビ人は二十歳以上よりして數へられたり For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above:
28 彼らの職はアロンの子孫等の手に屬して神の家の役事を爲し庭と諸の室の用を爲し一切の聖物を潔むるなど凡て神の家の役事を勤むるの事なりき Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;
29 また供前のパン素祭の麥粉酵いれぬ菓子鍋にて製る者燒て製る者などを掌どりまた凡て容積と長短を量度ることを掌どり Both for the shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;
30 また朝ごとに立てヱホバを頌へ讃ることを掌どれり夕もまた然り And to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord, and likewise at even;
31 又安息日と朔日と節會においてヱホバに諸の燔祭を献げ其命ぜられたる所に循ひて數のごとくに斷ずこれをヱホバの前にたてまつる事を掌どれり And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the Lord in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the Lord:
32 是のごとく彼らは集會の幕屋の職守と聖所の職守とアロンの子孫たるその兄弟等の職守とを守りてヱホバの家の役事をおこなふ可りしなり And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the Lord.
