| 1 | 主ヱホバの我に示したまへるところ是のごとし 即ち草の再び生ずる時にあたりて彼蝗を造りたまふ その草は王の刈たる後に生じたるものなり | Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings. |
| 2 | その蝗地の靑物を食盡しし後我言り 主ヱホバよ願くは赦したまへ ヤコブは小し 爭でか立ことを得んと | And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord God, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small. |
| 3 | ヱホバその行へる事につきて悔をなし我これを爲じと言たまふ | The Lord repented for this: It shall not be, saith the Lord. |
| 4 | 主ヱホバの我に示したまへる所是のごとし 即ち主ヱホバ火をもて罰せんとて火を呼たまひければ火大淵を焚きまた產業の地を焚かんとす | Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord God called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part. |
| 5 | 時に我言り 主ヱホバよ願くは止みたまへ ヤコブは小し爭でか立ことを得んと | Then said I, O Lord God, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small. |
| 6 | ヱホバその行へる事につきて悔をなし我これをなさじと主ヱホバ言たまふ | The Lord repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord God. |
| 7 | また我に示したまへるところ是のごとし 即ち準縄をもて築ける石垣の上にヱホバ立ちその手に準縄を執たまふ | Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand. |
| 8 | 而してヱホバ我にむかひアモス汝何を見るやと言たまひければ準縄を見ると我答へしに主また言たまはく我準縄を我民イスラエルの中に設く 我再び彼らを見過しにせじ | And the Lord said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more: |
| 9 | イサクの崇邱は荒されイスラエルの聖所は毀たれん 我劍をもちてヤラベアムの家に起むかはん | And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword. |
| 10 | 時にベテルの祭司アマジヤ、イスラエルの王ヤラベアムに言遣しけるはイスラエルの家の眞中にてアモス汝に叛けり 彼の諸の言には此地も堪るあたはざるなり | Then Amaziah the priest of Beth–el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words. |
| 11 | 即ちアモスかく言り ヤラベアムは劍によりて死ん イスラエルは必ず擄へられてゆきてその國を離れんと | For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land. |
| 12 | 而してアマジヤ、アモスに言けるは先見者よ 汝往てユダの地に逃れ彼處にて預言して汝の食物を得よ | Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there: |
| 13 | 然どベテルにては重ねて預言すべからず 是は王の聖所王の宮なればなり | But prophesy not again any more at Beth–el: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court. |
| 14 | アモス對へてアマジヤに言けるは我は預言者にあらず また預言者の子にも非ず 我は牧者なり 桑の樹を作る者なりと | Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit: |
| 15 | 然るにヱホバ羊に從ふ所より我を取り往て我民イスラエルに預言せよとヱホバわれに宣へり | And the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel. |
| 16 | 今ヱホバの言を聽け 汝は言ふイスラエルにむかひて預言する勿れ イサクの家にむかひて言を出すなかれと | Now therefore hear thou the word of the Lord: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac. |
| 17 | 是故にヱホバかく言たまふ 汝の妻は邑の中にて妓婦となり汝の男子女子は劍に斃れ汝の地は繩をもて分たれん 而して汝は穢れたる地に死にイスラエルは擄られゆきてその國を離れん | Therefore thus saith the Lord; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land. |
