| 1 | イエス・キリストの僕また使徒なるシメオン・ペテロ、書を我らの神および救主イエス・キリストの義によりて、我らと同じ貴き信仰を受けたる者に贈る。 | Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: |
| 2 | 願はくは神および我らの主イエスを知るによりて、恩惠と平安と汝らに増さんことを。 | Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, |
| 3 | キリストの神たる能力は、生命と敬虔とに係る凡てのものを我らに賜へり。是おのれの榮光と徳とをもて召し給へる者を我ら知るに因りてなり。 | According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: |
| 4 | その榮光と徳とによりて我らに貴き大なる約束を賜へり、これは汝らが世に在る慾の滅亡をのがれ、神の性質に與る者とならん爲なり。 | Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. |
| 5 | この故に勵み勉めて汝らの信仰に徳を加へ、徳に知識を、 | And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; |
| 6 | 知識に節制を、節制に忍耐を、忍耐に敬虔を、 | And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; |
| 7 | 敬虔に兄弟の愛を、兄弟の愛に博愛を加へよ。 | And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. |
| 8 | 此 等のもの汝らの衷にありて彌増すときは、汝 等われらの主イエス・キリストを知るに怠ることなく、實を結ばぬこと無きに至らん。 | For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 9 | 此 等のものの無きは盲人にして遠く見ること能はず、己が舊き罪を潔められしことを忘れたるなり。 | But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. |
| 10 | この故に兄弟よ、ますます勵みて汝らの召されたること、選ばれたることを堅うせよ。若し此 等のことを行はば躓くことなからん。 | Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: |
| 11 | かくて汝らは我らの主なる救主イエス・キリストの永遠の國に入る恩惠を豐に與へられん。 | For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. |
| 12 | されば汝らは此 等のことを知り、既に受けたる眞理に堅うせられたれど、我つねに此 等のことを思ひ出させんとするなり。 | Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. |
| 13 | 我は尚この幕屋に居るあいだ、汝らに思ひ出させて勵ますを正當なりと思ふ。 | Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; |
| 14 | そは我らの主イエス・キリストの我に示し給へるごとく、我わが幕屋を脱ぎ去ることの速かなるを知ればなり。 | Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. |
| 15 | 我また汝 等をして我が世を去らん後にも、常に此 等のことを思ひ出させんと勉むべし。 | Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. |
| 16 | 我らは我らの主イエス・キリストの能力と來りたまふ事とを汝らに告ぐるに、巧なる作話を用ひざりき、我らは親しくその稜威を見し者なり。 | For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. |
| 17 | いとも貴き榮光の中より聲 出でて『こは我が愛しむ子なり、我これを悦ぶ』と言ひ給へるとき、主は父なる神より尊貴と榮光とを受け給へり。 | For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. |
| 18 | 我らも彼と偕に聖なる山に在りしとき、天より出づる此の聲をきけり。 | And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. |
| 19 | かくて我らが有てる預言の言は堅うせられたり。汝 等この言を暗き處にかがやく燈火として、夜明け、明星の汝らの心の中にいづるまで顧みるは善し。 | We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: |
| 20 | なんじら先づ知れ、聖書の預言は、すべて己がままに釋くべきものにあらぬを。 | Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. |
| 21 | 預言は人の心より出でしにあらず、人々 聖 靈に動かされ、神によりて語れるものなればなり。 | For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. |
