1 イエス群衆を見て、山にのぼり、座し給へば、弟子たち御許にきたる。 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
2 イエス口をひらき、教へて言ひたまふ、 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3 『幸福なるかな、心の貧しき者。天國はその人のものなり。 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 幸福なるかな、悲しむ者。その人は慰められん。 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 幸福なるかな、柔和なる者。その人は地を嗣がん。 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 幸福なるかな、義に飢ゑ渇く者。その人は飽くことを得ん。 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7 幸福なるかな、憐憫ある者。その人は憐憫を得ん。 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 幸福なるかな、心の清き者。その人は神を見ん。 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9 幸福なるかな、平和ならしむる者。その人は神の子と稱へられん。 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10 幸福なるかな、義のために責められたる者。天國はその人のものなり。 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 我がために、人なんぢらを罵り、また責め、詐りて各樣の惡しきことを言ふときは、汝ら幸福なり。 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 喜びよろこべ、天にて汝らの報は大なり。汝 等より前にありし預言者たちをも、斯く責めたりき。 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
13 汝らは地の鹽なり、鹽もし效力を失はば、何をもてか之に鹽すべき。後は用なし、外にすてられて人に蹈まるるのみ。 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 汝らは世の光なり。山の上にある町は隱るることなし。 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 また人は燈火をともして升の下におかず、燈臺の上におく。かくて燈火は家にある凡ての物を照すなり。 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 かくのごとく汝らの光を人の前にかがやかせ。これ人の汝らが善き行爲を見て、天にいます汝らの父を崇めん爲なり。 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
17 われ律法また預言者を毀つために來れりと思ふな。毀たんとて來らず、反つて成就せん爲なり。 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 誠に汝らに告ぐ、天 地の過ぎ往かぬうちに、律法の一點、一畫も廢ることなく、ことごとく全うせらるべし。 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 この故にもし此 等のいと小き誡命の一つをやぶり、且その如く人に教ふる者は、天國にて最 小き者と稱へられ、之を行ひ、かつ人に教ふる者は、天國にて大なる者と稱へられん。 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 我なんぢらに告ぐ、汝らの義、學者・パリサイ人に勝らずば、天國に入ること能はず。 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
21 古への人に「殺すなかれ、殺す者は審判にあふべし」と云へることあるを汝 等きけり。 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 されど我は汝らに告ぐ、すべて兄弟を怒る者は、審判にあふべし。また兄弟に對ひて、愚 者よといふ者は、衆議にあふべし。また痴者よといふ者は、ゲヘナの火にあふべし。 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
23 この故に汝もし供物を祭壇にささぐる時、そこにて兄弟に怨まるる事あるを思ひ出さば、 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24 供物を祭壇のまへに遺しおき、先づ往きて、その兄弟と和睦し、然るのち來りて、供物をささげよ。 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25 なんぢを訴ふる者とともに途に在るうちに、早く和解せよ。恐らくは、訴ふる者なんぢを審判 人にわたし、審判 人は下役にわたし、遂になんぢは獄に入れられん。 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26 まことに汝に告ぐ、一 厘ものこりなく償はずば、其處をいづること能はじ。 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
27 「姦淫するなかれ」と云へることあるを汝 等きけり。 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 されど我は汝らに告ぐ、すべて色情を懷きて女を見るものは、既に心のうち姦淫したるなり。 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29 もし右の目なんぢを躓かせば、抉り出して棄てよ、五體の一つ亡びて、全身ゲヘナに投げ入れられぬは益なり。 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
30 もし右の手なんぢを躓かせば、切りて棄てよ、五體の一つ亡びて、全身ゲヘナに往かぬは益なり。 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
31 また「妻をいだす者は離縁状を與ふべし」と云へることあり。 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
32 されど我は汝らに告ぐ、淫行の故ならで其の妻をいだす者は、これに姦淫を行はしむるなり。また出されたる女を娶るものは、姦淫を行ふなり。 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
33 また古への人に「いつはり誓ふなかれ、なんぢの誓は主に果すべし」と云へる事あるを汝ら聞けり。 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
34 されど我は汝らに告ぐ、一切ちかふな、天を指して誓ふな、神の御座なればなり。 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne:
35 地を指して誓ふな、神の足臺なればなり。エルサレムを指して誓ふな、大君の都なればなり。 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
36 己が頭を指して誓ふな、なんぢ頭髮 一筋だに白くし、また黒くし能はねばなり。 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
37 ただ然り然り、否 否といへ、之に過ぐるは惡より出づるなり。 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
38 「目には目を、齒には齒を」と云へることあるを汝ら聞けり。 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 されど我は汝らに告ぐ、惡しき者に抵抗ふな。人もし汝の右の頬をうたば、左をも向けよ。 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 なんぢを訟へて下衣を取らんとする者には、上衣をも取らせよ。 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.
41 人もし汝に一里ゆくことを強ひなば、共に二里ゆけ。 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
42 なんぢに請ふ者にあたへ、借らんとする者を拒むな。 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
43 「なんぢの隣を愛し、なんぢの仇を憎むべし」と云へることあるを汝 等きけり。 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 されど我は汝らに告ぐ、汝らの仇を愛し、汝らを責むる者のために祈れ。 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 これ天にいます汝らの父の子とならん爲なり。天の父は、その日を惡しき者のうへにも善き者のうへにも昇らせ、雨を正しき者にも正しからぬ者にも降らせ給ふなり。 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 なんぢら己を愛する者を愛すとも何の報をか得べき、取税人も然するにあらずや。 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 兄弟にのみ挨拶すとも何の勝ることかある、異邦人も然するにあらずや。 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 さらば汝らの天の父の全きが如く、汝らも全かれ。 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
