1 ここにパリサイ人・學者ら、エルサレムより來りてイエスに言ふ、 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
2 『なにゆゑ汝の弟子は、古への人の言傳を犯すか、食事のときに手を洗はぬなり』 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
3 答へて言ひ給ふ『なにゆゑ汝らは、また汝らの言傳によりて神の誡命を犯すか。 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4 即ち神は「父 母を敬へ」と言ひ「父または母を罵る者は必ず殺さるべし」と言ひたまへり。 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5 然るに汝らは「誰にても父または母に對ひて、我が負ふ所のものは供物となりたりと言はば、 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6 父または母を敬ふに及ばず」と言ふ。斯くその言傳によりて神の言を空しうす。 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
7 僞善者よ、宜なる哉、イザヤは汝らに就きて能く預言せり。曰く、 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8 「この民は口唇にて我を敬ふ、されど其の心は我に遠ざかる。 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 ただ徒らに我を拜む。人の訓誡を教とし教へて」』 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
10 かくて群衆を呼び寄せて言ひたまふ『聽きて悟れ。 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
11 口に入るものは人を汚さず、されど口より出づるものは、これ人を汚すなり』 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
12 ここに弟子たち御許に來りていふ『御言をききてパリサイ人の躓きたるを知り給ふか』 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
13 答へて言ひ給ふ『わが天の父の植ゑ給はぬものは、みな拔かれん。 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14 彼らを捨ておけ、盲人を手引する盲人なり、盲人もし盲人を手引せば、二人とも穴に落ちん』 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
15 ペテロ答へて言ふ『その譬を我らに解き給へ』 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
16 イエス言ひ給ふ『なんぢらも今なほ悟りなきか。 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
17 凡て口に入るものは腹にゆき、遂に厠に棄てらるる事を悟らぬか。 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 されど口より出づるものは心より出づ、これ人を汚すものなり。 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 それ心より惡しき念いづ、すなはち殺人・姦淫・淫行・竊盜・僞證・誹謗、 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 これらは人を汚すものなり、されど洗はぬ手にて食する事は人を汚さず』 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
21 イエスここを去りてツロとシドンとの地方に往き給ふ。 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22 視よ、カナンの女その邊より出できたり、叫びて『主よ、ダビデの子よ、我を憫み給へ、わが娘、惡鬼につかれて甚く苦しむ』と言ふ。 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 されどイエス一言も答へ給はず。弟子たち來り請ひて言ふ『女を歸したまへ、我らの後より叫ぶなり』 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 答へて言ひたまふ『我はイスラエルの家の失せたる羊のほかに遣されず』 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 女きたり拜して言ふ『主よ、我を助けたまへ』 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 答へて言ひたまふ『子供のパンをとりて小狗に投げ與ふるは善からず』 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 女いふ『然り、主よ、小狗も主人の食卓よりおつる食屑を食ふなり』 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
28 ここにイエス答へて言ひたまふ『をんなよ、汝の信仰は大なるかな、願のごとく汝になれ』娘この時より癒えたり。 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
29 イエス此處を去り、ガリラヤの海邊にいたり、而して山に登り、そこに坐し給ふ。 And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
30 大なる群衆、跛者・不具・盲人・唖者および他の多くの者を連れ來りて、イエスの足下に置きたれば、醫し給へり。 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:
31 群衆は、唖者の物いひ、不具の癒え、跛者の歩み、盲人の見えたるを見て之を怪しみ、イスラエルの神を崇めたり。 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 イエス弟子たちを召して言ひ給ふ『われ此の群衆をあはれむ、既に三日われと偕にをりて食ふべき物なし。飢ゑたるままにて歸らしむるを好まず、恐らくは途にて疲れ果てん』 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
33 弟子たち言ふ『この寂しき地にて、斯く大なる群衆を飽かしむべき多くのパンを、何處より得べき』 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
34 イエス言ひ給ふ『パン幾つあるか』彼らいふ『七つ、また小き魚すこしあり』 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
35 イエス群衆に命じて地に坐せしめ、 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
36 七つのパンと魚とを取り、謝して之をさき弟子たちに與へ給へば、弟子たちこれを群衆に與ふ。 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37 凡ての人くらひて飽き、裂きたる餘を拾ひしに、七つの籃に滿ちたり。 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
38 食ひし者は、女と子供とを除きて四千 人なりき。 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
39 イエス群衆をかへし、舟に乘りてマガダンの地方に往き給へり。 And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
