| 1 | 終に言はん、兄弟よ、我らの爲に祈れ、主の言の汝らの中における如く、疾く弘りて崇められん事と、 | Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: |
| 2 | われらが無法なる惡人より救はれんこととを祈れ。そは人みな信仰あるに非ざればなり。 | And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. |
| 3 | されど神は眞實なれば、汝らを堅うし汝らを護りて、惡しき者より救ひ給はん。 | But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. |
| 4 | かくて我らの命ずることを汝らが今も行ひ、後もまた行はんことを主によりて信ずるなり。 | And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. |
| 5 | 願はくは主なんぢらの心を、神の愛とキリストの忍耐とに導き給はんことを。 | And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. |
| 6 | 兄弟よ、我らの主イエス・キリストの名によりて汝らに命ず、我等より受けし傳に從はずして妄に歩む凡ての兄弟に遠ざかれ。 | Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. |
| 7 | 如何にして我らに效ふべきかは、汝らの自ら知る所なり。我らは汝らの中にありて妄なる事をせず、 | For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; |
| 8 | 價なしに人のパンを食せず、反つて汝 等のうち一人をも累はさざらんために勞と苦難とをもて、夜晝はたらけり。 | Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: |
| 9 | これは權 利なき故にあらず、汝 等をして我らに效はしめん爲に、自ら模範となりたるなり。 | Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. |
| 10 | また汝らと偕に在りしとき、人もし働くことを欲せずば食すべからずと命じたりき。 | For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. |
| 11 | 聞く所によれば、汝 等のうちに妄に歩みて何の業をもなさず、徒事にたづさはる者ありと。 | For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. |
| 12 | 我ら斯くのごとき人に、靜に業をなして己のパンを食せんことを、我らの主イエス・キリストに由りて命じかつ勸む。 | Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. |
| 13 | 兄弟よ、なんぢら善を行ひて倦むな。 | But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. |
| 14 | もし此の書にいへる我らの言に從はぬ者あらば、その人を認めて交ることをすな、彼みづから恥ぢんためなり。 | And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. |
| 15 | 然れど彼を仇の如くせず、兄弟として訓戒せよ。 | Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. |
| 16 | 願はくは平和の主、みづから何時にても凡ての事に平和を汝らに與へ給はんことを。願はくは主なんぢら凡ての者と偕に在さん事を。 | Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. |
| 17 | 我パウロ手づから筆を執りて汝らの安否を問ふ。これ我がすべての書の記章なり。わが書けるものは斯くの如し。 | The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write. |
| 18 | 願はくは我らの主イエス・キリストの恩惠なんぢら凡ての者と偕ならんことを。 | The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. The second epistle to the Thessalonians was written from Athens. |
