| 1 | わが誇るは益なしと雖も止むを得ざるなり、茲に主の顯示と默示とに及ばん。 | It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. |
| 2 | 我はキリストにある一人の人を知る。この人、十四年 前に第三の天にまで取去られたり（肉體にてか、われ知らず、肉體を離れてか、われ知らず、神しり給ふ） | I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. |
| 3 | われ斯くのごとき人を知る（肉體にてか、肉體の外にてか、われ知らず、神しり給ふ） | And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) |
| 4 | かれパラダイスに取去られて、言ひ得ざる言、人の語るまじき言を聞けり。 | How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. |
| 5 | われ斯くのごとき人のために誇らん、されど我が爲には弱き事のほか誇るまじ。 | Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. |
| 6 | もし自ら誇るとも我が言ふところ誠實なれば、愚なる者とならじ。されど之を罷めん。恐らくは人の我を見われに聞くところに過ぎて、我を思ふことあらん。 | For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me. |
| 7 | 我は我が蒙りたる默示の鴻大なるによりて高ぶることのなからん爲に、肉體に一つの刺を與へらる、即ち高ぶることなからん爲に我を撃つサタンの使なり。 | And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. |
| 8 | われ之がために三度まで之を去らしめ給はんことを主に求めたるに、 | For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. |
| 9 | 言ひたまふ『わが恩惠なんぢに足れり、わが能力は弱きうちに全うせらるればなり』さればキリストの能力の我を庇はんために、寧ろ大に喜びて我が微弱を誇らん。 | And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. |
| 10 | この故に我はキリストの爲に微弱・恥辱・艱難・迫害・苦難に遭ふことを喜ぶ、そは我よわき時に強ければなり。 | Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. |
| 11 | われ汝らに強ひられて愚になれり、我は汝らに譽めらるべかりしなり。我は數ふるに足らぬ者なれども、何事にもかの大使徒たちに劣らざりしなり。 | I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing. |
| 12 | 我は徴と不思議と能力ある業とを行ひ、大なる忍耐を用ひて汝 等のうちに使徒の徴をなせり。 | Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds. |
| 13 | なんぢら他の教會に何の劣る所かある、唯わが汝らを煩はさざりし事のみならずや、此の不義は請ふ我に恕せ。 | For what is it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensome to you? forgive me this wrong. |
| 14 | 視よ、茲に三度なんぢらに到らんとして準備したれど、尚なんぢらを煩はすまじ。我は汝らの所有を求めず、ただ汝らを求む。それ子は親のために貯ふべきにあらず、親は子のために貯ふべきなり。 | Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. |
| 15 | 我は大に喜びて汝らの靈魂のために物を費し、また身をも費さん。我なんぢらを多く愛するによりて、汝ら我を少く愛するか。 | And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved. |
| 16 | 或 人いはん、我なんぢらを煩はさざりしも、狡猾にして詭計をもて取りしなりと。 | But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile. |
| 17 | 然れど我なんぢらに遣しし者のうちの誰によりて汝らを掠めしや。 | Did I make a gain of you by any of them whom I sent unto you? |
| 18 | 我テトスを勸めて汝らに遣し、これと共にかの兄弟を遣せり、テトスは汝らを掠めしや。我らは同じ御靈によりて歩み、同じ足跡を蹈みしにあらずや。 | I desired Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? walked we not in the same steps? |
| 19 | 汝らは夙くより我等なんぢらに對して辯明すと思ひしならん。されど我らはキリストに在りて神の前にて語る。愛する者よ、これ皆なんぢらの徳を建てん爲なり。 | Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying. |
| 20 | わが到りて汝らを見ん時、わが望の如くならず、汝らが我を見んとき、亦なんぢらの望の如くならざらんことを恐れ、かつ分爭・嫉妬・憤恚・徒黨・誹謗・讒言・驕傲・騷亂などの有らんことを恐る。 | For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults: |
| 21 | また重ねて到らん時、わが神われを汝 等のまへにて辱しめ、且おほくの人の、前に罪を犯して行ひし不潔と姦淫と好色とを悔改めざるを悲しましめ給ふことあらん乎と恐る。 | And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed. |
