1	KÖNIG SALOMO UND DER BAU DES TEMPELS / Salomos Bitte um Weisheit Salomo, der Sohn Davids, festigte seine Königsherrschaft; der Herr, sein Gott, stand ihm bei und ließ ihn sehr mächtig werden.	And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.
2	Eines Tages rief Salomo die Vertreter von ganz Israel nach Jerusalem zusammen: die Truppenführer, die Richter, die Führer der Stämme und die Sippenoberhäupter.	Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.
3	Mit der ganzen Versammlung ging er zur Opferstätte in Gibeon. Dort stand noch das Heilige Zelt, das Mose, der Diener und Bevollmächtigte Gottes, in der Wüste herstellen ließ.	So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness.
4	Für die Bundeslade hatte David in Jerusalem ein Zelt aufschlagen lassen und sie von Kirjat-Jearim herbeigeholt.	But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath–jearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
5	Bei der Wohnung des Herrn in Gibeon stand auch der bronzene Altar, den Bezalel, der Sohn von Uri und Enkel von Hur, gemacht hatte. Dorthin begab sich nun Salomo mit allen Versammelten	Moreover the brasen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the Lord: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.
6	und opferte dem Herrn auf dem Altar vor dem Heiligen Zelt tausend Tiere als Brandopfer.	And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the Lord, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.
7	In der folgenden Nacht erschien ihm Gott und sagte zu ihm: »Wünsche dir, was du willst! Ich will es dir geben.«	In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
8	Salomo sagte zu Gott: »Du hast meinem Vater David sehr viel Güte erwiesen und mich hast du nun an seiner Stelle als König eingesetzt.	And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.
9	Herr, mein Gott, lass doch jetzt die Zusage, die du meinem Vater gegeben hast, in Erfüllung gehen! Denn du hast mich zum König gemacht über ein Volk, das so zahlreich ist wie die Staubkörner auf der Erde.	Now, O Lord God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
10	Darum schenke mir Weisheit und Verständnis, dass ich mit deinem Volk richtig umgehe! Wie könnte ich denn sonst dieses große Volk regieren?«	Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
11	Da sagte Gott zu Salomo: »Du hättest dir auch Reichtum, Schätze oder Ansehen wünschen können, den Tod deiner Feinde oder langes Leben für dich. Stattdessen hast du mich um Weisheit gebeten, damit du mein Volk, über das ich dich als König eingesetzt habe, regieren kannst. Weil dir das am Herzen liegt,	And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
12	will ich dir Weisheit und Verständnis schenken. Aber ich gebe dir dazu auch so viel an Reichtum, Schätzen und Ansehen, wie noch kein König vor dir besessen hat und auch nach dir keiner haben wird.«	Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
13	Danach kehrte Salomo vom Heiligen Zelt an der Opferstätte in Gibeon wieder nach Jerusalem zurück, um von dort aus über Israel zu regieren. (; )	Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.
14	Salomos Macht und Reichtum Salomo legte sich eine große Zahl von Streitwagen mit den dazugehörigen Besatzungen zu. Er hatte 1400 Wagen und 12000 Wagenkämpfer. Ein Teil von ihnen war in Jerusalem stationiert, die übrigen waren in den Städten untergebracht, die er dafür ausgebaut hatte.	And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
15	Unter Salomos Regierung war in Jerusalem Silber und Gold so gewöhnlich wie Steine, und Zedernholz wie das Holz der Maulbeerfeigenbäume im Hügelland von Juda.	And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the vale for abundance.
16	Seine Pferde ließ Salomo aus Ägypten, und zwar aus Koa, einführen; seine Händler kauften sie dort auf.	And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king’s merchants received the linen yarn at a price.
17	Auch Streitwagen wurden aus Ägypten eingeführt. Ein Streitwagen kostete 600 Silberstücke, ein Pferd 150 Silberstücke. Die Händler Salomos belieferten auch die Könige der Hetiter und Syrer mit Pferden und Streitwagen. ()	And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.
18	Vorbereitungen für den Tempelbau Salomo befahl, zu Ehren des Herrn einen Tempel zu bauen und für ihn selbst einen Regierungspalast.	—
