1	der sagte zu mir: »Du Mensch, steh auf! Ich habe dir etwas zu sagen.«	And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee.
2	Da kam Geist in mich und stellte mich auf die Füße. Dann hörte ich ihn zu mir sagen:	And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me.
3	»Du Mensch, ich sende dich zu den Leuten von Israel. Sie sind ein widerspenstiges Volk, das sich gegen mich auflehnt. So haben es schon ihre Vorfahren getan und sie selbst sind nicht besser. Auch zu den anderen Völkern sende ich dich,	And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.
4	aber vor allem zu diesem frechen und trotzigen Volk. Du sollst zu ihnen sagen: ›So spricht der Herr, der mächtige Gott ...‹	For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God.
5	Auch wenn sie widerspenstig bleiben und nicht auf dich hören – sie sollen wenigstens wissen, dass es einen Propheten bei ihnen gibt.	And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.
6	Du Mensch, hab keine Angst vor ihnen und ihren Spottreden! Du wirst unter ihnen leben wie unter Skorpionen, wie mitten im Dorngestrüpp. Aber du brauchst dich nicht vor ihnen zu fürchten.	And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.
7	Sag ihnen die Worte, die ich dir auftrage, ganz gleich, ob sie auf dich hören oder nicht. Du weißt ja, sie sind ein widerspenstiges Volk.	And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.
8	Du selbst aber, du Mensch, höre, was ich dir zu sagen habe: Sei nicht trotzig wie dieses widerspenstige Volk! Mach deinen Mund auf und iss, was ich dir gebe!«	But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.
9	Ich schaute auf und sah vor mir eine ausgestreckte Hand, die eine Buchrolle hielt.	And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;
10	Als die Rolle geöffnet wurde, sah ich, dass sie auf beiden Seiten mit Klagen, Seufzern und Verzweiflungsschreien vollgeschrieben war.	And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.
