1	Buchüberschrift In diesem Buch steht, was Amos, einem Viehzüchter aus dem Dorf Tekoa, vom Herrn offenbart worden ist. Er empfing die hier aufgeschriebenen Worte als Botschaft für das Reich Israel zwei Jahre vor dem großen Erdbeben, als in Juda König Usija regierte und in Israel Jerobeam, der Sohn Joaschs.	The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
2	Amos sagte: Wie Löwengebrüll und Donnergrollen schallt es vom Zionsberg in Jerusalem her. Dort wohnt der Herr, im Zorn erhebt er die Stimme; da vertrocknen die saftigen Weiden, selbst der Wald auf dem Gipfel des Karmels verdorrt. ()	And he said, The Lord will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.
3	ANKÜNDIGUNG DES GERICHTS ÜBER DAS NORDREICH ISRAEL / Israels Nachbarvölker haben Gottes Strafgericht zu erwarten ... Hört, was der Herr sagt: »Die Leute von Damaskus haben Verbrechen auf Verbrechen gehäuft. Sie haben Gilead so grauenvoll verwüstet, als hätte man es mit eisernen Dreschschlitten gedroschen. Darum verschone ich sie nicht.	Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:
4	Ich lege Feuer an die befestigten Paläste, die ihre Könige Hasaël und Ben-Hadad gebaut haben.	But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Ben–hadad.
5	Ich zerbreche die Riegel an den Toren von Damaskus und gebe die Stadt ihren Feinden preis, auch die Herrscher von Bikat-Awen (Unrechtstal) und Bet-Eden (Lusthausen) bringe ich um. Die Bevölkerung von ganz Syrien wird nach Kir verschleppt. Das sage ich, der Herr.«	I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the Lord.
6	Hört, was der Herr sagt: »Die Leute von Gaza haben Verbrechen auf Verbrechen gehäuft. Sie haben ganze Dörfer entvölkert und ihre Bewohner an die Edomiter verkauft. Darum verschone ich sie nicht.	Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:
7	Ich lege Feuer an die Mauern von Gaza, damit es seine Prachtbauten verzehrt.	But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:
8	Auch die Herrscher von Aschdod und Aschkelon bringe ich um, die Stadt Ekron bekommt meine Hand zu spüren. Und der ganze Rest der Philister wird auch umkommen. Das sage ich, der Herr.«	And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord God.
9	Hört, was der Herr sagt: »Die Leute von Tyrus haben Verbrechen auf Verbrechen gehäuft. Sie haben den Freundschaftsbund mit Israel gebrochen und die Bewohner ganzer Dörfer an die Edomiter verkauft. Darum verschone ich sie nicht.	Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:
10	Ich lege Feuer an die Mauern von Tyrus, damit es seine Prachtbauten verzehrt.«	But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.
11	Hört, was der Herr sagt: »Die Leute von Edom haben Verbrechen auf Verbrechen gehäuft. Den Israeliten, die doch ihr Brudervolk sind, haben sie erbarmungslos mit dem Schwert nachgestellt und den Hass immer aufs Neue geschürt. Darum verschone ich sie nicht.	Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
12	Ich schicke Feuer in ihr Land, damit es die Prachtbauten von Bozra verzehrt.«	But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
13	Hört, was der Herr sagt: »Die Leute von Ammon haben Verbrechen auf Verbrechen gehäuft. Als sie ihr Gebiet zu erweitern suchten, haben sie in der Landschaft Gilead sogar schwangeren Frauen den Leib aufgeschlitzt. Darum verschone ich sie nicht.	Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:
14	Ich lege Feuer an die Mauern ihrer Hauptstadt Rabba, damit es die Prachtbauten verzehrt. Das Kriegsgeschrei dröhnt, wie ein brausender Sturm tobt die Schlacht, wenn das geschieht.	But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:
15	Der Ammoniterkönig muss mit allen führenden Männern in die Verbannung. Das sage ich, der Herr.«	And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the Lord.
