| 1 | Jumalatoin pakenee, ja ei kenkään aja häntä takaa; vaan jumalinen on rohkia niinkuin nuori jalopeura. | The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion. |
| 2 | Maakunnan synnin tähden tulee valtakuntaan monta päämiestä; vaan toimellisten ja ymmärtäväisten ihmisten tähden pysyy se kauvan. | For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged. |
| 3 | Nälkäinen, joka köyhiä vaivaa, on niinkuin sadekuuro, joka hedelmän turmelee. | A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food. |

| 14 | Autuas on se ihminen, joka aina pelkää; vaan joka sydämensä paaduttaa, se lankee onnettomuuteen. | Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief. |
