Unto the end, for Idithun, a psalm of Asaph. | In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.
I cried to the Lord with my voice; to God with my voice, and he gave ear to me. | In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.
In the days of my trouble I sought God, with my hands lifted up to him in the night, and I was not deceived. My soul refused to be comforted: | There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.
I remembered God, and was delighted, and was exercised, and my spirit swooned away. | Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.
My eyes prevented the watches: I was troubled, and I spoke not. | The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.
I thought upon the days of old: and I had in my mind the eternal years. | At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.
And I meditated in the night with my own heart: and I was exercised and I swept my spirit. | Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
Will God then cast off for ever? or will he never be more favourable again? | Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
Or will he cut off his mercy for ever, from generation to generation? | When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.
Or will God forget to shew mercy? or will he in his anger shut up his mercies? | Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.
And I said, Now have I begun: this is the change of the right hand of the most High. | Vow, and pay unto the Lord your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
I remembered the works of the Lord: for I will be mindful of thy wonders from the beginning. | He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.
And I will meditate on all thy works: and will be employed in thy inventions. | —
Thy way, O God, is in the holy place: who is the great God like our God? | —
Thou art the God that dost wonders. Thou hast made thy power known among the nations: | —
With thy arm thou hast redeemed thy people the children of Jacob and of Joseph. | —
The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee: and they were afraid, and the depths were troubled. | —
Great was the noise of the waters: the clouds sent out a sound. For thy arrows pass: | —
The voice of thy thunder in a wheel. Thy lightnings enlightened the world: the earth shook and trembled. | —
Thy way is in the sea, and thy paths in many waters: and thy footsteps shall not be known. | —
Thou hast conducted thy people like sheep, by the hand of Moses and Aaron. | —
