Unto the end, in verses. A psalm for David. | Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
When I called upon him, the God of my justice heard me: when I was in distress, thou hast enlarged me. Have mercy on me: and hear my prayer. | O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.
O ye sons of men, how long will you be dull of heart? why do you love vanity, and seek after lying? | But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto him.
Know ye also that the Lord hath made his holy one wonderful: the Lord will hear me when I shall cry unto him. | Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
Be ye angry, and sin not: the things you say in your hearts, be sorry for them upon your beds. | Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.
Offer up the sacrifice of justice, and trust in the Lord: many say, Who sheweth us good things? | There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
The light of thy countenance, O Lord, is signed upon us: thou hast given gladness in my heart. | Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.
By the fruit of their corn, their wine, and oil, they are multiplied: | I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.
In peace in the self same I will sleep, and I will rest: | —
For thou, O Lord, singularly hast settled me in hope. | —
