| 2 | Because he hath inclined his ear unto me: and in my days I will call upon him. | Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion. |
| 3 | The sorrows of death have compassed me: and the perils of hell have found me. I met with trouble and sorrow: | The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back. |
| 4 | And I called upon the name of the Lord. O Lord, deliver my soul. | The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs. |
| 5 | The Lord is merciful and just, and our God sheweth mercy. | What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back? |
| 6 | The Lord is the keeper of little ones: I was humbled, and he delivered me. | Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs? |
| 7 | Turn, O my soul, into thy rest: for the Lord hath been bountiful to thee. | Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob; |
