Til Sangmesteren. En Salme af David. En Sang. | Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.
Lovsang tilkommer dig paa Zion, o Gud, dig indfrier man Løfter, du, som hører Bønner; | O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.
alt Kød kommer til dig, naar Brøden tynger. | Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.
Vore Overtrædelser blev os for svare, du tilgiver dem. | Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.
Salig den, du udvælger, lader bo i dine Forgaarde! Vi mættes af dit Huses Rigdom, dit Tempels Hellighed. | By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:
Du svarer os underfuldt i Retfærd, vor Frelses Gud, du Tilflugt for den vide Jord, for fjerne Strande, | Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power:
du, som grundfæster Bjerge med Vælde, omgjordet med Kraft, | Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.
du, som dæmper Havenes Brusen, deres Bølgers Brusen og Folkefærds Larm, | They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.
saa Folk ved Verdens Ende gruer for dine Tegn; hvor Morgen og Aften oprinder, bringer du Jubel. | Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it.
Du saa til Landet, vanded det, gjorde det saare rigt, Guds Bæk er fuld af Vand, du bereder dets Korn, | Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof.
du vander dets Furer, jævner knoldene, bløder det med Regn, velsigner dets Sæd. | Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.
Med din Herlighed kroner du Aaret, dine Vognspor flyder af Fedme; | They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side.
de øde Græsgange flyder, med Jubel omgjordes Højene; Engene klædes med Faar, Dalene hylles i Korn, i Jubel bryder de ud og synger! | The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing.
