| 1 | 以色列 人哪，你們當聽 耶和華 的話。 耶和華 與 這地 的居民 爭辯，因 這地上 無 誠實，無 良善，無 人認識 神。 | Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. |
| 2 | 但起假誓，不踐前言，殺害，偷盜，姦淫，行強暴，殺人流血，接連不斷。 | By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. |
| 3 | 因此，這地 悲哀，其上 的 民、田野 的獸、空中 的鳥 必都 衰微，海 中的魚 也 必消滅。 | Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away. |
| 4 | 然而，人 都不必 爭辯，也不必 指責，因為這民 與抗拒 祭司的人一樣。 | Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest. |
| 5 | 你這祭司必日間 跌倒；先知 也 必夜間 與你 一同跌倒；我必滅絕 你的母親。 | Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother. |
| 6 | 我的民 因無 知識 而滅亡。 你 棄掉 知識，我也必棄掉你，使你不再給我 作祭司。你既忘了你 神 的律法，我 也 必忘記 你的兒女。 | My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. |
| 7 | 祭司越發增多，就 越發得罪 我；我必使他們的榮耀 變為 羞辱。 | As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame. |
| 8 | 他們吃 我民 的贖罪祭，滿心 願意 我民犯罪。 | They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity. |
| 9 | 將來民如何，祭司也必如何；我必因他們所行的 懲罰 他們，照他們所做的 報應他們。 | And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings. |
| 10 | 他們吃，卻不 得飽；行淫，而不 得立後；因為 他們離棄 耶和華，不遵他的命。 | For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the Lord. |
| 11 | 姦淫 和酒，並新酒，奪去 人的心。 | Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart. |
| 12 | 我的民 求問 木偶，以為木杖 能指示 他們；因為 他們的淫 心 使他們失迷，他們就行淫 離棄 神，不守約束， | My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God. |
| 13 | 在 各山 頂， 各高岡 的橡樹、楊樹、栗樹 之下，獻祭 燒香，因為 樹影 美好。所以，你們的女兒 淫亂，你們的新婦（或譯：兒婦；下同）行淫。 | They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery. |
| 14 | 你們的女兒 淫亂， 你們的新婦 行淫，我卻不 懲罰她們；因為 你們自己 離群 與 娼妓同居，與 妓女 一同獻祭。這無 知 的民 必致傾倒。 | I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall. |
| 15 | 以色列啊，你 雖然 行淫，猶大 卻不可 犯罪。不要 往吉甲 去，不要 上到伯‧亞文，也不要 指著永生的 耶和華 起誓。 | Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Beth–aven, nor swear, The Lord liveth. |
| 16 | 以色列 倔強，猶如倔強 的母牛；現在 耶和華 要放他們，如同放羊羔 在寬闊之地。 | For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the Lord will feed them as a lamb in a large place. |
| 17 | 以法蓮 親近 偶像，任憑 他吧！ | Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone. |
| 18 | 他們所喝的 已經發酸，他們時常 行淫，他們的官長 最 愛 羞恥的事。 | Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye. |
| 19 | 風 把他們 裹 在翅膀裡；他們因所獻的祭 必致蒙羞。 | The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices. |
