| 2 | 法老 說：「耶和華 是誰， 使我聽 他的話，容 以色列人 去呢？我不 認識 耶和華，也 不 容 以色列人 去！」 | And Pharaoh said, Who is the Lord, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the Lord, neither will I let Israel go. |
| 3 | 他們說：「希伯來人的 神 遇見了 我們。求 你容我們往曠野 去，走三 天 的路程，祭祀 耶和華─我們的 神，免得 他用瘟疫、 刀兵 攻擊我們。」 | And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days’ journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the Lord our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword. |

| 6 | 當 天，法老 吩咐 督工的 和 官長 說： | And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying, |
| 7 | 「你們不可 照 常 把草 給 百姓 做 磚，叫他們 自己 去 撿 草。 | Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves. |
| 8 | 他們 素常 做 磚 的數目，你們仍舊向他們 要，一點 不可 減少；因為 他們 是懶惰的，所以 呼求 說：『容我們去 祭祀我們的 神。』 | And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God. |
| 9 | 你們要把更重的 工夫 加在 這些人 身上，叫他們勞碌，不 聽 虛謊 的言語。」 | Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words. |
| 10 | 督工 的和官長 出來 對 百姓 說：「法老 這樣 說：『我不 給 你們 草。 | And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw. |
| 11 | 你們 自己 在哪裡能找 草，就往那裡 去 找吧！但 你們的工 一點 不可 減少。』」 | Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished. |
| 12 | 於是百姓 散 在埃及 遍 地，撿 碎秸 當作草。 | So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw. |
| 13 | 督工的 催著 說：「你們一天 當完 一天的 工，與先前 有 草一樣。」 | And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw. |
| 14 | 法老 督工的，責打 他所 派 以色列 人 的官長，說：「你們 昨天 今天 為甚麼 沒有 照向來 的數目做磚、完 你們的工作呢？」 | And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and to day, as heretofore? |
| 15 | 以色列 人 的官長 就來 哀求 法老 說：「為甚麼 這樣 待 你的僕人？ | Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants? |
| 16 | 督工的不 把草 給 僕人，並且對我們 說：『做 磚吧！』看哪，你僕人 挨了打，其實是你百姓 的錯。」 | There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault is in thine own people. |
| 17 | 但法老說：「你們 是懶惰的！你們是懶惰的！所以 說：『容我們去 祭祀 耶和華。』 | But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye say, Let us go and do sacrifice to the Lord. |
| 18 | 現在 你們去 做工吧！草 是不 給 你們的，磚 卻要如數 交納。」 | Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks. |
| 19 | 以色列 人 的官長 聽說「你們每天 做磚 的工作 一點不可 減少」，就知道是 遭遇禍患了。 | And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, after it was said, Ye shall not minish ought from your bricks of your daily task. |
| 20 | 他們離了 法老 出來，正遇見 摩西、 亞倫 站 在對面， | And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh: |
| 21 | 就向他們 說：「願耶和華 鑒察 你們，施行判斷；因 你們使我們 在 法老 和他臣僕 面前 有了臭 名，把刀 遞 在他們手 中殺我們。」 | And they said unto them, The Lord look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us. |
| 22 | 摩西 回 到 耶和華那裡，說：「主啊，你為甚麼 苦待 這 百姓呢？為甚麼 打發我去呢？」 | And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me? |
| 23 | 自從 我去 見 法老，奉你的名 說話，他就苦待 這 百姓，你一點也 沒有 拯救 他們。」 | For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all. |
