| 1 | 誰 如智慧人呢？誰 知道 事情 的解釋呢？人 的智慧 使他的臉 發光，並使他臉上 的暴氣 改變。 | Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? a man’s wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed. |
| 2 | 我 勸你遵守 王 的命令；既指 神 起誓，理當如此。 | I counsel thee to keep the king’s commandment, and that in regard of the oath of God. |
| 3 | 不要 急躁 離開 王的面前，不要 固執 行惡，因為 他凡事 都隨自己的心意 而行。 | Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; for he doeth whatsoever pleaseth him. |
| 4 | 王 的話 本有權力，誰 敢問他 說「你做 甚麼」呢？ | Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou? |
| 5 | 凡遵守 命令的，必不 經歷 禍患；智慧人 的心 能辨明 時候和定理（原文是審判；下節同）。 | Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man’s heart discerneth both time and judgment. |
| 6 | 各樣 事務 成就都有 時候 和定理，因為 人 的苦難 重壓 在他身上。 | Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him. |
| 7 | 他不 知道 將來的事，因為 將來 如何，誰 能告訴 他呢？ | For he knoweth not that which shall be: for who can tell him when it shall be? |
| 8 | 無 人 有權力掌管 生命，將 生命 留住；也無人 有權力掌管 死 期；這場爭戰，無人 能免；邪惡 也不能 救 那好行邪惡的人。 | There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it. |
| 9 | 這 一切 我都見過，也專 心 查考日光 之下 所 做 的一切 事。有時 這人 管轄 那人，令人 受害。 | All this have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is a time wherein one man ruleth over another to his own hurt. |
| 10 | 我見 惡人 埋葬，歸入墳墓；又見行正直事的 離開 聖 地，在城中 被人忘記。這 也 是虛空。 | And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this is also vanity. |
| 11 | 因為 斷定 罪名 不 立刻 施刑，所以 世人 滿 心 作 惡。 | Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. |
| 12 | 罪人 雖然 作 惡 百次，倒享長久的年日；然而 我 準 知道， 敬畏 神的，就是 在他面前 敬畏的人，終久必得 福樂。 | Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: |
| 13 | 惡人 卻不 得 福樂，也不 得長久的 年日；這年日好像影兒，因 他不 敬畏 神。 | But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God. |
| 14 | 世上 有 一件虛空的事，就是 義人 所 遭遇的，反照惡人 所行的；又有 惡人 所遭遇的，反照義人 所行的。我說，這 也是 虛空。 | There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity. |
| 15 | 我 就稱讚 快樂，原來 人 在日光 之下，莫 強 如 吃 喝 快樂；因為他 在日光 之下， 神 賜 他 一生 的年日，要從勞碌中，時常享受所得的。 | Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun. |
| 16 | 我專 心 求 智慧，要看 世上 所 做 的事。（有晝 夜 不睡覺 不 合眼的。） | When I applied mine heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also there is that neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes:) |
| 17 | 我就看明 神 一切的 作為， 知道人 查 不 出 日光 之下 所 做 的事； 任憑 他 費多少力 尋查，都查不 出來，就是 智慧人 雖想 知道，也是 查不 出來。 | Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labour to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea further; though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it. |
