| 1 | 以色列 人 在米斯巴 曾起誓 說：「我們都 不 將女兒 給 便雅憫人 為妻。」 | Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpeh, saying, There shall not any of us give his daughter unto Benjamin to wife. |
| 2 | 以色列人 來到 伯特利，坐在 神 面前 直到 晚上，放 聲 痛哭， | And the people came to the house of God, and abode there till even before God, and lifted up their voices, and wept sore; |
| 3 | 說：「耶和華─以色列的 神啊，為何 以色列中 有 這樣 缺了 一 支派的事呢？」 | And said, O Lord God of Israel, why is this come to pass in Israel, that there should be to day one tribe lacking in Israel? |
| 4 | 次日清早，百姓 起來，在那裡 築了 一座壇，獻 燔祭 和平安祭。 | And it came to pass on the morrow, that the people rose early, and built there an altar, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. |
| 5 | 以色列 人 彼此問說：「以色列 各 支派中，誰 沒有 同會眾 上 到 耶和華面前來呢？」 先是以色列人起過大 誓 說， 凡 不 上 米斯巴 到 耶和華面前來的，必 將他治死。 | And the children of Israel said, Who is there among all the tribes of Israel that came not up with the congregation unto the Lord? For they had made a great oath concerning him that came not up to the Lord to Mizpeh, saying, He shall surely be put to death. |
| 6 | 以色列 人 為 他們的弟兄 便雅憫 後悔，說：「如今 以色列中 絕了 一個 支派了。 | And the children of Israel repented them for Benjamin their brother, and said, There is one tribe cut off from Israel this day. |
| 7 | 我們 既在耶和華 面前起誓說，必不 將我們的女兒 給 便雅憫人 為妻，現在我們當怎樣 辦理、使他們 剩下 的人有妻呢？」 | How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing we have sworn by the Lord that we will not give them of our daughters to wives? |
| 8 | 又彼此問說：「以色列 支派中 誰 沒有 上 米斯巴 到 耶和華面前來呢？」 他們就查出基列‧雅比 沒有 一人 進 營 到 會眾那裡； | And they said, What one is there of the tribes of Israel that came not up to Mizpeh to the Lord? And, behold, there came none to the camp from Jabesh–gilead to the assembly. |
| 9 | 因為百姓 被數的時候， 沒有 一個 基列‧雅比 人 在那裡。 | For the people were numbered, and, behold, there were none of the inhabitants of Jabesh–gilead there. |
| 10 | 會眾 就打發 一萬二 千 大勇士，吩咐 他們 說：「你們去 用 刀 將 基列‧雅比 人 連婦女 帶孩子 都擊殺了。 | And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the valiantest, and commanded them, saying, Go and smite the inhabitants of Jabesh–gilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the children. |
| 11 | 所 當行 的就是這 樣：要將一切 男子 和 已嫁 的女子 盡行殺戮。」 | And this is the thing that ye shall do, Ye shall utterly destroy every male, and every woman that hath lain by man. |
| 12 | 他們在基列‧雅比 人中，遇見了 四 百個 未 嫁的 處女，就帶 到 迦南 地 的 示羅 營裡。 | And they found among the inhabitants of Jabesh–gilead four hundred young virgins, that had known no man by lying with any male: and they brought them unto the camp to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan. |
| 13 | 全 會眾 打發 人到 臨門 磐 的 便雅憫 人那裡，向他們 說 和睦 的話。 | And the whole congregation sent some to speak to the children of Benjamin that were in the rock Rimmon, and to call peaceably unto them. |
| 14 | 當 時 便雅憫人 回來了，以色列人就把所 存活 基列‧雅比 的女子 給 他們 為妻，還是 不 夠。 | And Benjamin came again at that time; and they gave them wives which they had saved alive of the women of Jabesh–gilead: and yet so they sufficed them not. |
| 15 | 百姓 為便雅憫人 後悔，因為 耶和華 使 以色列人 缺了一個支派（原文是使以色列中有了破口）。 | And the people repented them for Benjamin, because that the Lord had made a breach in the tribes of Israel. |
| 16 | 會 中的長老 說：「便雅憫中 的女子 既然 除滅了，我們當怎樣 辦理、使那餘剩 的人有妻呢？」 | Then the elders of the congregation said, How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing the women are destroyed out of Benjamin? |
| 17 | 又說：「便雅憫 逃脫的人 當有地業，免得 以色列中 塗抹了 一個支派。 | And they said, There must be an inheritance for them that be escaped of Benjamin, that a tribe be not destroyed out of Israel. |
| 18 | 只是我們 不 能 將自己的女兒 給 他們 為妻；因為 以色列 人 曾起誓 說，有將女兒給 便雅憫人 為妻的，必受咒詛。」 | Howbeit we may not give them wives of our daughters: for the children of Israel have sworn, saying, Cursed be he that giveth a wife to Benjamin. |
| 19 | 他們又說：「 在利波拿 以南，伯特利 以北， 在示劍 大路 以東 的 示羅，年 年 有耶和華 的節期」； | Then they said, Behold, there is a feast of the Lord in Shiloh yearly in a place which is on the north side of Beth–el, on the east side of the highway that goeth up from Beth–el to Shechem, and on the south of Lebonah. |
| 20 | 就吩咐 便雅憫 人 說：「你們去，在葡萄園中 埋伏。 | Therefore they commanded the children of Benjamin, saying, Go and lie in wait in the vineyards; |
| 21 | 若 看見 示羅 的女子 出來 跳 舞，就從 葡萄園 出來，在示羅 的女子中 各 搶 一個為妻，回便雅憫 地 去。 | And see, and, behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in dances, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catch you every man his wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin. |
| 22 | 他們的父親 或是 弟兄 若 來 與我們 爭競，我們就 說：『求你們看我們的情面，施恩 給這些人，因 我們在爭戰 的時候 沒有 給 他們 留下 女子為妻。這 也不是 你們 將女子給 他們的；若是你們給的，就算有罪。』」 | And it shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come unto us to complain, that we will say unto them, Be favourable unto them for our sakes: because we reserved not to each man his wife in the war: for ye did not give unto them at this time, that ye should be guilty. |
| 23 | 於是便雅憫 人 照樣 而行，按著他們的數目 從 跳舞的女子中 搶去 為 妻，就回 自己的地業 去，又重修 城邑 居住。 | And the children of Benjamin did so, and took them wives, according to their number, of them that danced, whom they caught: and they went and returned unto their inheritance, and repaired the cities, and dwelt in them. |
| 24 | 當 時 以色列 人 離 開那裡，各 歸本支派、本宗族、 本地業 去了。 | And the children of Israel departed thence at that time, every man to his tribe and to his family, and they went out from thence every man to his inheritance. |
| 25 | 那 時，以色列中 沒有 王，各人 任意 而行。 | In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes. |
