| 2 | 眾 民 聽 說 王 為 他兒子 憂愁， 他們 得勝 的歡樂卻變成 悲哀。 | And the victory that day was turned into mourning unto all the people: for the people heard say that day how the king was grieved for his son. |
| 3 | 那 日 眾民 暗暗地 進 城，就如 敗陣 逃跑、慚愧 的民一般。 | And the people gat them by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they flee in battle. |

For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well. |
| 7 | 現在 你當 出去，安慰 你僕人 的心。 我指著耶和華 起誓：你若 不 出去，今夜 必無 一人 與你 同在一處；這 禍患 就比你 從幼年 到 如今 所 遭的 更甚！」 | Now therefore arise, go forth, and speak comfortably unto thy servants: for I swear by the Lord, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry one with thee this night: and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that befell thee from thy youth until now. |
| 8 | 於是王 起來，坐 在城門口。眾 民 聽 說 王 坐 在城門口， 就都 到 王 面前。以色列人 已經逃跑，各 回各家去了。 | Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. And they told unto all the people, saying, Behold, the king doth sit in the gate. And all the people came before the king: for Israel had fled every man to his tent. |
| 9 | 以色列 眾 支派的 人 紛紛議論 說：「王 曾救我們 脫離仇敵 的手，又 救我們脫離 非利士人 的手，現在 他躲避 押沙龍 逃走了。 | And all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he is fled out of the land for Absalom. |
| 10 | 我們膏 押沙龍 治理我們，他 已經陣 亡。現在 為甚麼 不出一言 請 王 回來呢？」 | And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back? |
| 11 | 大衛 王 差 人去見 祭司 撒督 和 亞比亞他，說：「你們當 向 猶大 長老 說：『以色列 眾人 已經有 話 請 王 回 宮，你們 為甚麼 落在他們後頭呢？ | And king David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, Speak unto the elders of Judah, saying, Why are ye the last to bring the king back to his house? seeing the speech of all Israel is come to the king, even to his house. |
| 12 | 你們是 我的弟兄，是 我的骨 肉， 為甚麼 在人後頭 請 王 回來呢？』 | Ye are my brethren, ye are my bones and my flesh: wherefore then are ye the last to bring back the king? |
| 13 | 也要對亞瑪撒 說：『你 不是 我的骨 肉嗎？我若 不 立你替 約押 常 作 元帥，願 神 重重地 降 罰 與我！』」 | And say ye to Amasa, Art thou not of my bone, and of my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of Joab. |

| 18 | 有擺渡船 過去，渡 王 的家眷，任 王 使用。王要過 約旦河的時候，基拉 的兒子 示每 就俯伏 在王 面前， | And there went over a ferry boat to carry over the king’s household, and to do what he thought good. And Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, as he was come over Jordan; |
| 19 | 對 王 說：「我主 我王 出 耶路撒冷 的時候， 僕人 行悖逆的事，現在求我主 不要 因此加 罪 與僕人，不要 記念， 也不要放 在 心上。 | And said unto the king, Let not my lord impute iniquity unto me, neither do thou remember that which thy servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart. |
| 20 | 僕人 明知 自己 有罪， 所以約瑟 全 家之中，今日 我首先 下 來 迎接 我主 我王。」 | For thy servant doth know that I have sinned: therefore, behold, I am come the first this day of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king. |
| 21 | 洗魯雅 的兒子 亞比篩 說：「示每 既 咒罵 耶和華 的受膏者， 不 應當治死他嗎？」 | But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the Lord’s anointed? |
| 22 | 大衛 說：「洗魯雅 的兒子，我 與你們 有何關涉， 使你們 今日 與我 反對呢？今日 在以色列 中豈可治死 人呢？我豈 不 知 今日 我 作 以色列 的王嗎？」 | And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel? |
| 23 | 於是王 對 示每 說：「你必不 死。」王 就向他 起誓。 | Therefore the king said unto Shimei, Thou shalt not die. And the king sware unto him. |
| 24 | 掃羅 的孫子 米非波設 也下去 迎接 王。他自從 王 去 的日子，直到 王平平安安地 回來，沒有 修 腳，沒有 剃 鬍鬚，也沒有 洗 衣服。 | And Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king, and had neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came again in peace. |

| 27 | 又在 我主 我王 面前讒毀 我。然而我主 我王如同 神 的使者一般，你看 怎樣好，就怎樣行吧！ | And he hath slandered thy servant unto my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God: do therefore what is good in thine eyes. |
| 28 | 因為 我祖 全 家的人，在我主 我王 面前都算為 死 人，王卻使 僕人 在王的席上 同人吃飯，我現在向 王 還 能 辨理 訴冤嗎？」 | For all of my father’s house were but dead men before my lord the king: yet didst thou set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table. What right therefore have I yet to cry any more unto the king? |
| 29 | 王 對他 說：「你何必 再 提 你的事呢？我說，你 與洗巴 均分 地土。」 | And the king said unto him, Why speakest thou any more of thy matters? I have said, Thou and Ziba divide the land. |
| 30 | 米非波設 對 王 說：「我主 我王 既 平平安安地 回 宮，就任憑洗巴都取了 也可以。」 | And Mephibosheth said unto the king, Yea, let him take all, forasmuch as my lord the king is come again in peace unto his own house. |
| 31 | 基列人 巴西萊 從羅基琳 下來，要送王 過 約旦河，就與 王 一同過了約旦河。 | And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim, and went over Jordan with the king, to conduct him over Jordan. |
| 32 | 巴西萊 年紀老 邁，已經八十 歲了。王住在 瑪哈念的時候，他 就拿食物 來供給 王；他 原是 大 富 戶。 | Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even fourscore years old: and he had provided the king of sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he was a very great man. |
| 33 | 王 對 巴西萊 說：「你 與我 同去，我要在耶路撒冷 那裡養 你的老。」 | And the king said unto Barzillai, Come thou over with me, and I will feed thee with me in Jerusalem. |

| 35 | 僕人 現在 八十 歲了，還能 嘗出 飲 食的滋味、辨別 美 惡嗎？還 能 聽 男 女 歌唱的聲音嗎？僕人 何必 累贅 我主 我王呢？ | I am this day fourscore years old: and can I discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king? |
| 36 | 僕人 只 要送 王 過 約旦河，王 何必 賜我 這樣的 恩典呢？ | Thy servant will go a little way over Jordan with the king: and why should the king recompense it me with such a reward? |
| 37 | 求 你准我 回去，好死 在我本城，葬在 我父 母 的墓旁。這裡有 王的僕人 金罕，讓他同 我主 我王 過去，可以隨 意 待 他。」 | Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back again, that I may die in mine own city, and be buried by the grave of my father and of my mother. But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee. |
| 38 | 王 說：「金罕 可以與我 同去，我 必照 你的心願 待 他。你向我 求 甚麼，我都必為你 成就。」 | And the king answered, Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good unto thee: and whatsoever thou shalt require of me, that will I do for thee. |
| 39 | 於是眾 民 過 約旦河，王 也過去。王 與巴西萊 親嘴，為他祝福，巴西萊就回 本地去了。 | And all the people went over Jordan. And when the king was come over, the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned unto his own place. |
| 40 | 王 過去，到了吉甲，金罕 也跟他 過去。猶大 眾 民 和以色列 民 的一半 也 都送 王 過去。 | Then the king went on to Gilgal, and Chimham went on with him: and all the people of Judah conducted the king, and also half the people of Israel. |
| 41 | 以色列 眾 人 來 見 王，對 他 說：「我們弟兄 猶大 人 為甚麼 暗暗 送 王 和 王的家眷，並 跟隨 王 的人 過 約旦河？」 | And, behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men of Judah stolen thee away, and have brought the king, and his household, and all David’s men with him, over Jordan? |
| 42 | 猶大 眾 人 回答 以色列 人說：「因為 王 與我們 是親屬，你們為何 因 這 事 發怒呢？我們吃了 王 的甚麼呢？王 賞賜 了我們 甚麼呢？」 | And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king’s cost? or hath he given us any gift? |
| 43 | 以色列 人 回答 猶大 人 說：「按支派，我們 與王 有十 分的情分；在大衛身上，我們 也 比你們更有情分。你們為何 藐視我們，請 王 回來 不 先 與我們 商量呢？」但猶大 人 的話 比以色列 人 的話 更硬。 | And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel. |
