| 1 | 以色列 人住 在什亭，百姓 與 摩押 女子 行起 淫亂。 | And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. |
| 2 | 因為這女子叫 百姓來，一同給她們的神 獻祭，百姓 就吃她們的祭物，跪拜 她們的神。 | And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. |
| 3 | 以色列人與巴力‧毘珥 連合，耶和華 的怒氣 就向以色列人 發作。 | And Israel joined himself unto Baal–peor: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel. |
| 4 | 耶和華 吩咐 摩西 說：「 將 百姓 中所有的 族長 在我 面前對著 日頭 懸掛，使我 向以色列人 所發 的怒氣 可以消了。」 | And the Lord said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the Lord against the sun, that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Israel. |
| 5 | 於是摩西 吩咐 以色列 的審判官 說：「凡 屬你們的人，有與巴力‧毘珥 連合的，你們各人 要把他們殺了。」 | And Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baal–peor. |
| 6 | 摩西 和以色列 全 會眾 正在會 幕 門 前哭泣的時候，誰知，有以色列 中的一個人，當他們 眼前，帶著 一個米甸女人 到 他弟兄 那裡去。 | And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. |
| 7 | 祭司 亞倫的孫子，以利亞撒 的兒子 非尼哈 看見了，就從會 中 起來，手 裡拿 著槍， | And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand; |
| 8 | 跟隨 那以色列 人 進 亭子 裡去，便將 以色列 人 和 那女人 由 腹 中刺透。這樣，在 以色列 人 中瘟疫 就止息了。 | And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel. |
| 9 | 那時遭瘟疫 死的，有 二萬 四 千人。 | And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand. |
| 10 | 耶和華 曉諭 摩西 說： | And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, |
| 11 | 「祭司 亞倫 的孫子，以利亞撒 的兒子 非尼哈，使 我向 以色列 人 所發的怒 消了；因他在他們中間，以 我的忌邪 為心，使我不 在忌邪 中把 他們 除滅。 | Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy. |
| 12 | 因此，你要說：『 我將 我平安 的約 賜 給他。 | Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace: |
| 13 | 這約要 給他 和他的後裔，作為永遠 當祭司職任 的約；因 他為 神 有忌邪的心，為 以色列 人 贖罪。』」 | And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel. |
| 14 | 那 與 米甸女人 一同被殺 的以色列 人，名 叫心利，是撒路 的兒子，是西緬 一個宗 族 的首領。 | Now the name of the Israelite that was slain, even that was slain with the Midianitish woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a chief house among the Simeonites. |
| 15 | 那被殺 的米甸 女人，名 叫哥斯比，是蘇珥 的女兒；這蘇珥是 米甸 一個宗 族 的首領。 | And the name of the Midianitish woman that was slain was Cozbi, the daughter of Zur; he was head over a people, and of a chief house in Midian. |
| 16 | 耶和華 曉諭 摩西 說： | And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, |
| 17 | 「你要擾害 米甸人，擊殺 他們； | Vex the Midianites, and smite them: |
| 18 | 因為 他們 用詭計 擾害 你們，在 毘珥 的事 上和 他們的姊妹、米甸 首領 的女兒 哥斯比 的事上，用這詭計 誘惑 了你們；這哥斯比，當瘟疫 流行的日子，因 毘珥 的事 被殺了。」 | For they vex you with their wiles, wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of Midian, their sister, which was slain in the day of the plague for Peor’s sake. |
