1 夫律旣爲將來佳事之影、非其眞形、必不能以歷年恆獻之祭、使近之者完全、 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
2 若然、則獻祭之事豈不止乎、蓋崇事者一潔、不復覺罪、 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
3 惟歷年獻祭、乃使人憶罪耳、 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
4 蓋牛羊之血、不能除罪、 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
5 故基督臨世時曰、祭與禮爾不欲之、乃爲我備一身焉、 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
6 燔祭罪祭、爾不悅之、 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
7 我則曰、上帝歟、我來以行爾旨、乃經卷載及我者、 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
8 前旣言祭與禮、燔祭罪祭、爾不欲之、且不悅之、是皆依律而獻者、 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
9 後則曰、我來以行爾旨、乃除其先、以立其後也、 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10 我儕由此旨、賴耶穌基督一獻其身、而得成聖矣、 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 凡祭司日立而奉事、屢獻一式之祭、究不能除罪也、 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 惟彼旣爲罪而獻一祭、以至永久、則坐上帝右、 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13 俟諸敵爲其足几、 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14 蓋以一獻、使成聖者永爲完全、聖神亦爲我儕證之、 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
15 蓋曰、主旣云、斯日以後、我與彼所立之約、 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16 乃以我律賦其心、銘其衷、 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17 又曰、我不復憶其罪、及其不法、 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
18 夫旣赦之、則不復爲罪獻祭矣、○ Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
19 兄弟乎、我儕旣賴耶穌之血、毅然而入聖所、 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 由彼爲我儕所闢新且生之路、經乎幔、卽其形軀也、 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 且旣有大祭司、宰上帝家、 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 則宜以誠心篤信而進、心被灑以除是非之謬誤、身亦爲清水所滌、 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 持守所承之望而不移、蓋許之者誠信也、 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24 宜彼此顧恤、激勵於仁愛善行、 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 勿輟會集、如彼輟之者、惟相勸勉、見彼日愈近而愈切、○ Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
26 我儕旣識眞理、而故干罪、則無復有贖罪之祭、 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 惟戰慄待鞫、及滅諸敵之烈火耳、 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 拒摩西之律者、有二三人爲證、其死無恤、 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 況踐踏上帝子、以所由成聖之約血爲俗、且狎侮施恩之神、爾意若人受刑、其重爲何如乎、 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30 蓋曰、伸寃在我、我必報之、又曰、主必鞫其民、此誰所言、我儕固知之矣、 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31 陷於維生上帝手、可懼哉、○ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32 爾當憶曩日蒙光照後、所忍諸難之大戰、 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
33 或受詬誶艱辛、爲人之戲劇、或人受此苦、而己與之、 Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.
34 蓋人在縲絏、爾體恤之、人奪爾業、爾喜聽之、因知有愈美恆存之業也、 For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
35 故勿去爾果毅、蓋有大賞焉、 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 爾須忍、致爾旣行上帝旨、則得其所許、 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37 蓋曰、尚有須臾、則來者必來、決不稽遲、 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
38 惟我義者、必由信而生、若其退縮、我心不悅之、 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 然我儕非屬退縮而致淪亡者、乃屬信而致靈之得救者也、 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
