1 厥後、上帝試亞伯拉罕、呼之曰、亞伯拉罕、曰、我在此、 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
2 曰、攜汝所愛獨生之子以撒、往摩利亞地、在我所示之山、獻爲燔祭、 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
3 亞伯拉罕夙興、備驢、攜二僕及子以撒、劈柴爲燔、詣上帝所示之地、 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
4 越至三日、舉目遙瞻其處、 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
5 謂僕曰、爾與驢姑待於此、我與孺子往彼、崇拜卽返、 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
6 遂以燔柴、付於其子以撒負之、己則持火及刃、與之偕行、 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
7 以撒曰、父歟、曰、吾子、余在此、曰、火與柴則有之矣、而所燔之羔安在、 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
8 曰、吾子、上帝將自備羔、以爲燔祭、於是偕行、○ And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
9 至上帝所示之處、亞伯拉罕築壇、臚列其柴、縛子以撒、置於其上、 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
10 舉手執刃、將宰其子、 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11 耶和華之使者自天呼曰、亞伯拉罕、亞伯拉罕、曰、我在此、 And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 曰、爾於孺子、勿著手、勿加傷、蓋爾於我、不惜獨生之子、我知爾寅畏上帝矣、 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13 亞伯拉罕舉目以觀、見有牡綿羊在後、角繫林叢、遂往取之、獻爲燔祭、以代其子、 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 稱其地曰耶和華亦勒、迄今尚有人云、在耶和華山必預備也、 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah–jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.
15 耶和華之使者自天復呼亞伯拉罕、 And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
16 曰、耶和華云、爾旣行是、不惜獨生之子、我則指己而誓、 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17 必錫爾嘏、昌熾爾裔、如天上之星、如海濱之沙、爾裔必據諸敵之邑、 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18 緣爾遵我命、天下萬民、將因爾裔而獲福、 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
19 亞伯拉罕返至僕所、起而偕行、至別是巴居焉、○ So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beer–sheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beer–sheba.
20 自時厥後、或告亞伯拉罕曰、密迦從爾弟拿鶴亦生子、 And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor;
21 長子烏斯、及弟布斯、與亞蘭父基母利、 Huz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,
22 曁基薛、哈瑣、必達、益拉、彼土利、 And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.
23 此八人、皆密迦從亞伯拉罕弟拿鶴所生、彼土利生女利百加、 And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham’s brother.
24 拿鶴妾名流瑪、生子提八、迦含、他轄、瑪迦、 And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash, and Maachah.
