| 1 | 惡者無人追襲而逃、義者猛勇若獅、 | The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion. |
| 2 | 國有罪惡、則主迭更、人有明哲、則邦恆存、 | For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged. |
| 3 | 貧者虐貧、如暴雨衝沒穀食、 | A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food. |
| 4 | 棄法者譽惡人、守法者與之爭、 | They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them. |
| 5 | 惡人不明公義、尋求耶和華者、無所不明、 | Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the Lord understand all things. |
| 6 | 貧而正行、勝於富而乖戾、 | Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich. |
| 7 | 守法律者爲智子、侶饕餮者辱其父、 | Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father. |
| 8 | 人取利以增財、乃爲恤貧者積蓄之、 | He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor. |
| 9 | 轉耳不聽法律者、卽其祈禱、亦爲可憎、 | He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. |
| 10 | 使正人誤入惡途、必自陷於阱、惟彼完人、必承福祉、 | Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession. |
| 11 | 富人自視爲智、明哲之貧人洞悉之、 | The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out. |
| 12 | 義人得志、羣衆誇耀、惡人興起、庶民隱匿、 | When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden. |
| 13 | 蓋己過者、必不亨通、自承而改之者、必蒙矜恤、 | He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. |
| 14 | 常存敬畏者乃有福、剛愎厥心者必遘禍、 | Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief. |
| 15 | 暴君制貧民、如咆哮之獅、覓食之熊、 | As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people. |
| 16 | 乏識之君、多行暴厲、貪欲是疾、必延年齡、 | The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days. |
| 17 | 負流血之罪者、奔於陷阱、人勿阻之、 | A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him. |
| 18 | 行正直者、必蒙救援、行邪曲者、猝然傾覆、 | Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once. |
| 19 | 力其田者必足食、從虛浮者必極貧、 | He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough. |
| 20 | 忠誠者、其福充裕、急欲獲財者、不免受刑、 | A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent. |
| 21 | 瞻徇情面、乃爲不善、爲片餅而枉法、亦爲不善、 | To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress. |
| 22 | 眈眈者急於獲財、不知窮乏之將至、 | He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him. |
| 23 | 斥責人者、終得恩寵、較口諛者尤多、 | He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue. |
| 24 | 竊父母之財、自言無罪者、乃與殘賊同流、 | Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer. |
| 25 | 心貪者啟爭端、恃耶相華者得豐裕、 | He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the Lord shall be made fat. |
| 26 | 師心自用者、乃爲愚蠢、以智而行者、必得救援、 | He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered. |
| 27 | 濟貧者不至匱乏、佯爲不見者、多招咒詛、 | He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse. |
| 28 | 惡者興起、庶民隱匿、惡者敗亡、義人增多、 | When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase. |
