| 1 | 耶和華曰、悖逆之子、設謀不由我意、結約不依我神、致罪加罪、 | Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: |
| 2 | 起往埃及、未請示於我口、惟以法老爲保障、託埃及之蔭庇、禍哉其人、 | That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! |
| 3 | 法老之保障、必爲爾之羞辱、埃及之蔭庇、必爲爾之愧恥、 | Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion. |
| 4 | 彼之牧伯已在瑣安、使者已至哈內斯、 | For his princes were at Zoan, and his ambassadors came to Hanes. |
| 5 | 必因其民不能裨益、而懷羞恥、斯民不爲輔助、不爲裨益、乃爲愧爲辱也、○ | They were all ashamed of a people that could not profit them, nor be an help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach. |
| 6 | 論南方牲畜之預示、○經歷艱難困苦之域、其地出牝獅牡獅、蝮蛇飛火蛇、載其輜重於驢背、負其貨財於駝峯、以饋不能益己之民、 | The burden of the beasts of the south: into the land of trouble and anguish, from whence come the young and old lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not profit them. |
| 7 | 埃及之助、虛僞無益、故名之曰拉哈伯、兀坐不動、○ | For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried concerning this, Their strength is to sit still. |
| 8 | 爾其往至民前、錄之於簡、筆之於書、以傳於後、永世靡曁、 | Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: |
| 9 | 此乃悖逆之民、言誑之子、不聽耶和華之訓、 | That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord: |
| 10 | 謂先見曰、無庸先見、謂先知曰、勿以正直相示、以婉言語我、以虛誕告我、 | Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: |
| 11 | 舍其路、離其途、使以色列之聖者、不復在於我前、 | Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us. |
| 12 | 故以色列之聖者曰、爾輕視斯言、惟暴虐乖戾是恃、 | Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon: |
| 13 | 爾之罪愆、若高垣將傾、凸而有隙、俄頃之間、突然而圮、 | Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant. |
| 14 | 必見破壞、猶陶器之被毀、碎之弗惜、不得一片、用以取火於爐、汲水於井、 | And he shall break it as the breaking of the potters’ vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water withal out of the pit. |
| 15 | 主耶和華、以色列之聖者曰、爾之得救、在於回轉安處、爾之得力、在於寧靜信賴、惟爾不欲、 | For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not. |
| 16 | 爾曰、不然、我將乘馬而奔、故爾必奔、又曰、我乘迅疾之騎、故追爾者亦迅疾焉、 | But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift. |
| 17 | 一人叱咤、而千人逃、五人叱咤、而衆人遁、迨爾所遺、如山巔之竿、嶺上之旌、 | One thousand shall flee at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as an ensign on an hill. |
| 18 | 然耶和華必姑待以惠爾、居崇高以恤爾、蓋耶和華乃公義之上帝、凡望之者、咸蒙福祉、○ | And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. |
| 19 | 斯民必居於錫安、在耶路撒冷、不復哭泣、主必因爾呼籲、施恩於爾、有聞斯應、 | For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee. |
| 20 | 主雖供爾以患難之餅、與艱苦之水、而爾師傅不復藏匿、爾必目覩之、 | And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers: |
| 21 | 爾或偏於左、偏於右、耳中必聞有聲、在爾後曰、此乃道路、爾其由之、 | And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. |
| 22 | 爾必衊爾雕像所飾之銀、鑄像所包之金、擲之若穢物、謂之曰去、 | Ye shall defile also the covering of thy graven images of silver, and the ornament of thy molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth; thou shalt say unto it, Get thee hence. |
| 23 | 爾播種於地、主必降雨、賜爾田產之糧、旣阜且豐、是日爾之羣畜、必牧於廣苑、 | Then shall he give the rain of thy seed, that thou shalt sow the ground withal; and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shall be fat and plenteous: in that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures. |
| 24 | 耕田牛驢、必食佳穀、淨以鍫杈、加之以鹽、 | The oxen likewise and the young asses that ear the ground shall eat clean provender, which hath been winnowed with the shovel and with the fan. |
| 25 | 大行殺戮之日、臺榭傾圮之時、高山峻嶺、各有澗溪流川、 | And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers and streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall. |
| 26 | 耶和華裹其民之創、醫其扑傷之日、月光皎若日光、日光加以七倍、如七日之朗曜、○ | Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the Lord bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound. |
| 27 | 耶和華之名自遠方而來、烈怒炎炎、濃煙上騰、口盈忿氣、舌如烈火、 | Behold, the name of the Lord cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire: |
| 28 | 其氣如河漲溢、高及於項、以盪滅之篩篩萬國、導諸民於迷途、若以勒拑其口、 | And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err. |
| 29 | 爾將謳歌、如守聖節之夕、中心歡樂、如人吹笛而赴耶和華之山、詣以色列之磐、 | Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the Lord, to the mighty One of Israel. |
| 30 | 耶和華必令人聞其威聲、且見其臂力、及忿怒、烈火、暴雨、巨風、冰雹、 | And the Lord shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones. |
| 31 | 亞述因聞耶和華之聲而恐惶、彼必以其杖擊之、 | For through the voice of the Lord shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod. |
| 32 | 耶和華每以所定之杖擊之、人則擊鼓彈琴、彼必揮拳、戰而攻之、 | And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the Lord shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it. |
| 33 | 蓋陀斐特設自古昔、爲王而備、深之廣之、積多薪、蓄以火、耶和華之氣、若硫磺之流而燃之、 | For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the Lord, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it. |
