| 1 | 禍哉、以法蓮醉者高傲之冠冕、及其美飾之殘花、在膏腴山谷之上、其民沉湎於酒、 | Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine! |
| 2 | 耶和華備強有力者、若烈雹狂風、大水四溢、力擲之於地上、 | Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand. |
| 3 | 以法蓮醉者高傲之冠冕、被踐於足下、 | The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet: |
| 4 | 其美飾之殘花、在膏腴山谷之上者、若夏前初熟之無花果、見者觀之、摘於手卽啖之、 | And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up. |
| 5 | 是日也、萬軍之耶和華、爲其遺民之榮冕美冠、 | In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people, |
| 6 | 爲居位行鞫者公義之神、爲邑門拒敵者之力、 | And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate. |
| 7 | 斯人也、以清酒而搖曳、以醇醪而蹁躚、祭司先知、亦以醇醪而搖曳、皆困於酒、以醇醪而蹁躚、見異象則謬解、行審判則顚蹶、 | But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment. |
| 8 | 哇吐盈几、無地清潔、 | For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean. |
| 9 | 彼曰、此人教誰以智、曉誰以道、豈甫斷乳而離懷者耶、 | Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. |
| 10 | 蓋誡加誡、誡加誡、例加例、例加例、在此些須、在彼些須、○ | For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: |
| 11 | 耶和華將以異脣異舌、語於斯民、 | For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. |
| 12 | 昔謂之曰、撫綏困憊、是乃爾之安息、爾之清爽、惟彼不聽、 | To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. |
| 13 | 故耶和華之言、於彼必誡加誡、誡加誡、例加例、例加例、在此些須、在彼些須、致彼仰躓而見折、陷機而被擒、○ | But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. |
| 14 | 爾曹侮慢、而治耶路撒冷居民者、其聽耶和華之言、 | Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem. |
| 15 | 爾曰、我與死亡結約、與陰府訂盟、凶災流行、不及我身、我恃乎欺誑、匿於虛僞、 | Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: |
| 16 | 主耶和華曰、我置石於錫安以爲基、乃經驗寶貴之隅石、其址鞏固、信之者不驚惶、 | Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. |
| 17 | 我將以公爲繩、以義爲準、欺誑之避所、雹必毀之、虛僞之匿所、水必淹之、 | Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. |
| 18 | 爾與死亡所結之約必廢、爾與陰府所訂之盟、必不堅立、凶災流行之時、爾被蹂躪、 | And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. |
| 19 | 每屆流行、必及於爾、朝朝流行、無間晝夜、明曉斯道、惟有悚惶、 | From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report. |
| 20 | 榻短不能舒體、被狹不能蔽身、 | For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it. |
| 21 | 蓋耶和華興起、如在毘拉心山、震怒如在基遍谷、以行其事、其事非常、且成其功、其功奇異、 | For the Lord shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act. |
| 22 | 故勿侮慢、恐縲絏加嚴、蓋我聞毀滅之命、將行於天下、由於萬軍之主耶和華焉、○ | Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord God of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth. |
| 23 | 宜傾聽我聲、靜聆我言、 | Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech. |
| 24 | 耕而播種者、豈日服於耕乎、豈恆墾而耙其土乎、 | Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground? |
| 25 | 旣平其地、豈不播小茴香、布大茴香、豈不種小麥於隴、麰麥於畦、麤麥於畔乎、 | When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rie in their place? |
| 26 | 蓋其上帝示以隨宜、而教誨之、 | For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him. |
| 27 | 小茴香非撲以利器、大茴香非碾以車輪、乃以梃擊小茴香、以杖打大茴香、 | For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod. |
| 28 | 若夫五穀、豈軋而碎之乎、非也、不恆撲之、雖以車輪碾之、馬蹄踐之、亦不之碎、 | Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen. |
| 29 | 此亦出自萬軍之耶和華、其謀奧妙、其智超奇、 | This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working. |
