1 立不義之律、錄乖戾之詞、 Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;
2 屈枉貧乏、不予公斷、奪我窮民之理、攘奪嫠婦、刧掠孤兒、禍哉其人、 To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!
3 當受罰之日、災禍遙臨、爾將何爲、求拯濟於何人、置貨財於何處、 And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?
4 惟伏於被俘者之中、仆於見殺者之下、然其怒未息、其手尚伸焉、○ Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
5 亞述爲我震怒之梃、其手所持、乃我忿恚之杖、 O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.
6 我遣之攻褻慢之邦、令其擊我所恚之民、虜之掠之、且蹂躪之、若街衢之泥塗、 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
7 惟其意不如是、其心不思此、乃欲肆行敗壞、翦滅多邦、 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.
8 曰、我之牧伯、非皆爲王乎、 For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings?
9 迦勒挪非若迦基米施乎、哈馬非若亞珥拔乎、撒瑪利亞非若大馬色乎、 Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus?
10 我手已及偶像之國、其雕像、越於耶路撒冷與撒瑪利亞之偶像、 As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;
11 我所行於撒瑪利亞、與其偶像者、豈不亦行於耶路撒冷、與其偶像乎、○ Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?
12 主於錫安山、及耶路撒冷、旣畢乃事、必討亞述王心驕之行爲、目高之狂傲、 Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.
13 彼曰、我之所爲、乃以己手之力、己心之智、我固聰慧、曾移列國之界、虜其貨財、猶如強者傾覆居位之人、 For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:
14 我得列國之貨財、若取諸巢、我畧全地、若拾遺卵、無有鼓翼、啟口鳴噪者也、○ And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.
15 夫斧豈對用斧而斫者自伐乎、鋸豈對運鋸者自矜乎、是猶梃運彼舉之者、杖舉夫非木者、 Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.
16 緣此、萬軍之主耶和華、將使肥者爲瘠、其貨財之下、如爇火而焚、 Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.
17 以色列之光爲火、其聖者爲焰、一日之間、燬其荊棘蒺藜、 And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;
18 爇其茂林腴田之榮華、身心俱滅、勢如病者日漸衰頹、 And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth.
19 其林遺木無幾、童穉可記錄之、○ And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.
20 是日也、以色列之遺民、與雅各家免難之人、不復恃擊之者、惟誠賴以色列之聖者耶和華、 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.
21 維彼遺民、卽雅各之遺民、將歸於大能之上帝、 The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.
22 以色列乎、爾民雖如海沙、而旋歸者僅遺民耳、毀滅已定、由於公義之洋溢也、 For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.
23 蓋萬軍之主耶和華、必行毀滅於全地、斯乃所預定焉、○ For the Lord God of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.
24 萬軍之主耶和華曰、我居錫安之民歟、雖亞述擊爾以梃、加爾以杖、倣乎埃及、爾勿懼之、 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.
25 歷時無幾、我息怒於爾、則遷怒而滅之、 For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.
26 萬軍之耶和華、將舉鞭擊彼、如昔於俄立磐擊米甸人、將舉梃擊之、如昔於海擊埃及人、 And the Lord of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.
27 是日也、其負離乎爾肩、其軛釋於爾項、厥軛見折、肥壯故也、○ And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.
28 敵至亞葉、過米磯崙、屯輜重於密抹、 He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages:
29 越乎險隘、宿於迦巴、拉瑪震驚、掃羅之基比亞人奔逃、 They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.
30 迦琳女乎、爾其大聲而呼、萊煞人乎、爾其側耳而聽、哀哉亞拿突乎、 Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth.
31 瑪得米那奔潰、基柄居民逃匿、 Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee.
32 是日駐軍於挪伯、揮手向錫安女之山、卽耶路撒冷之岡也、○ As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.
33 萬軍之主耶和華、必以威烈伐其枝、雄幹見斫、高者降卑、 Behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled.
34 以鐵斬其叢林、利巴嫩爲力士所毀、 And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.
