| 1 | 約伯曰、 | But Job answered and said, |
| 2 | 惟願權我之憂、衡我之難、 | Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together! |
| 3 | 較諸海沙尤重、故我言詞造次、 | For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up. |
| 4 | 全能者之矢、入於我躬、我神飲其毒、上帝之威烈、列陳攻我、 | For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me. |
| 5 | 野驢有薪豈呼乎、牛有芻豈鳴乎、 | Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder? |
| 6 | 物淡無鹽可食乎、蛋白有味乎、 | Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg? |
| 7 | 此事乃如可厭之食、我靈弗受之、 | The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat. |
| 8 | 惟願得我所求、上帝賜我所望、 | Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for! |
| 9 | 卽其樂意壓我、伸手絕我、 | Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off! |
| 10 | 我則尚有慰藉、縱罹無已之苦、猶可踴躍、因我未違聖者之言、 | Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One. |
| 11 | 我力若何、尚可待乎、我終若何、尚可忍乎、 | What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life? |
| 12 | 我力豈石之力乎、我體豈銅乎、 | Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass? |
| 13 | 我中非無輔助乎、我智非盡屛除乎、 | Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me? |
| 14 | 人將頹敗、失其對全能者之寅畏、其友宜矜恤之、 | To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty. |
| 15 | 我昆弟行詐僞、如溪之竭、如澗之涸、 | My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away; |
| 16 | 初因凝冰而闇、雪藏其中、 | Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid: |
| 17 | 至暖則消、旣暑則乾、 | What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place. |
| 18 | 沿溪而行之旅、迂道入野而死、 | The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish. |
| 19 | 提瑪之行旅望之、示巴之羣侶企之、 | The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them. |
| 20 | 失所望則抱愧、至其地則蒙羞、 | They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed. |
| 21 | 爾曹亦然、見彼威烈、則恐懼焉、 | For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid. |
| 22 | 我豈云供我、或以物餽我、 | Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance? |
| 23 | 豈云援我於敵手、贖我於虐人、 | Or, Deliver me from the enemy’s hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty? |
| 24 | 請爾訓誨、我則緘口、且使我知、何事有過、 | Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred. |
| 25 | 正言之力何其大、惟爾之譴、何所譴耶、 | How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove? |
| 26 | 爾欲譴言詞乎、不知絕望之人、其論如風、 | Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind? |
| 27 | 爾欲爲孤子而探鬮、以友朋爲貿易、 | Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and ye dig a pit for your friend. |
| 28 | 請爾觀我、必不覿面言誑、 | Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie. |
| 29 | 請爾轉意、勿爲不義、其復轉意、我事乃義、 | Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it. |
| 30 | 我舌有不義乎、我口不辨邪惡乎、 | Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things? |
