| 1 | 巖間野羊生羔、爾知其時乎、麀鹿產子、爾悉其期乎、 | Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve? |
| 2 | 豈能計其月數、知其孳生之時乎、 | Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth? |
| 3 | 卷曲生子、劬勞誕育、 | They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows. |
| 4 | 其子漸壯、長於原野、去而不返、 | Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them. |
| 5 | 誰令野驢任意游行、誰爲迅驢解其縶維、 | Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass? |
| 6 | 我使曠野爲其室家、鹵地爲其居所、 | Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings. |
| 7 | 彼輕忽邑中之喧譁、不聽驅者之叱咤、 | He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver. |
| 8 | 諸山爲其牧場、遍覓青草、 | The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing. |
| 9 | 野牛豈役於爾、抑安處爾槽乎、 | Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib? |
| 10 | 爾能在隴畝中、繫之以索乎、彼豈從爾耙於谷乎、 | Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee? |
| 11 | 爾豈因其力大、而恃之乎、抑以爾勞委之乎、 | Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him? |
| 12 | 爾豈賴其運穀於家、積禾於場乎、 | Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn? |
| 13 | 鴕鳥昂然展翼、惟其毛羽不慈、 | Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich? |
| 14 | 蓋遺其卵於地、煖之於沙、 | Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust, |
| 15 | 不念人足或踐之、野獸或躪之、 | And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them. |
| 16 | 忍心待雛、若非己有、雖則徒勞、亦無懼也、 | She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: her labour is in vain without fear; |
| 17 | 蓋上帝去其慧心、不賦以靈明、 | Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding. |
| 18 | 及其高展、則輕視馬與乘者、 | What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider. |
| 19 | 馬力爾賜之乎、其項奮揚之鬣、爾被之乎、 | Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder? |
| 20 | 其躍如蝗、爾令之乎、咆哮之威、甚可畏也、 | Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible. |
| 21 | 跑地於谷、自喜有力、出迓兵械、 | He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men. |
| 22 | 遇有可畏、輕視而不懼、不因鋒刃而卻退、 | He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword. |
| 23 | 其上箭弢、與光明之戈矛、震震有聲、 | The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield. |
| 24 | 彼乃猛烈忿怒、氣吞土地、一聞角聲、則不耐立、 | He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet. |
| 25 | 角響則嘶、遠嗅戰氣、樂聞將帥之雷霆、士卒之鼓譟、 | He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting. |
| 26 | 鷹隼飛翔、振翮南往、豈由爾智乎、 | Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south? |
| 27 | 鵰鶚騰空、營巢高嶺、豈因爾命乎、 | Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high? |
| 28 | 巢於巉巖、峯巔鞏固之處、 | She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place. |
| 29 | 自彼窺食、其目遠觀、 | From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off. |
| 30 | 其雛吮血、屍之所在、彼亦在焉、 | Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she. |
