1 以利戶又曰、 Elihu spake moreover, and said,
2 爾以爲有理、自謂我之義、愈於上帝之義乎、 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?
3 致云、我何所得、較之干罪、何所益乎、 For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?
4 我將答爾、及爾同侶、 I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
5 試觀諸天、瞻視高於爾之穹蒼、 Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.
6 如爾干罪、與上帝何涉、爾罪增多、與上帝何與、 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
7 如爾爲義、於彼何加、彼於爾手何所得乎、 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?
8 爾惡或損同類、爾義或利世人、 Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.
9 人因多虐而呼號、緣強者之臂而呼救、 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.
10 惟無人云、造我之上帝、賜人夜歌者安在、 But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
11 其教我儕、使勝於地上之獸、俾智於空中之鳥、 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?
12 人因惡者之驕侈而呼籲、而莫之應、 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
13 虛誕之呼籲、上帝誠不之聽、全能者不之顧、 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
14 況爾乎、爾乃曰、不得見之、我之事理在其前、惟俟之而已、 Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.
15 今因上帝未加以怒、不甚介意於傲慢、 But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:
16 故約伯空啟厥口、多發無知之言、 Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
