| 1 | 我心厭我生命、將縱言我憂、述我中心之苦、 | My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul. |
| 2 | 語上帝曰、毋擬我罪、示我何因、與我爭辯、 | I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; shew me wherefore thou contendest with me. |
| 3 | 爾手所造、則虐待之、輕視之、惡人之謀、則焜耀之、爾豈以是爲善乎、 | Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress, that thou shouldest despise the work of thine hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked? |
| 4 | 爾豈肉眼、鑒觀豈若世人、 | Hast thou eyes of flesh? or seest thou as man seeth? |
| 5 | 爾日豈如人之日、爾年豈如人之年、 | Are thy days as the days of man? are thy years as man’s days, |
| 6 | 致爾尋我愆、察我罪、 | That thou enquirest after mine iniquity, and searchest after my sin? |
| 7 | 究之、爾知我非惡人、莫能援於爾手、 | Thou knowest that I am not wicked; and there is none that can deliver out of thine hand. |
| 8 | 爾手造我、甄陶成形、乃欲滅我、 | Thine hands have made me and fashioned me together round about; yet thou dost destroy me. |
| 9 | 請爾記憶、昔爾造我、猶之合土、今使我復歸塵埃乎、 | Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again? |
| 10 | 其時豈非傾我如乳、凝我如酪、 | Hast thou not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese? |
| 11 | 衣我以皮肉、維我以筋骨、 | Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh, and hast fenced me with bones and sinews. |
| 12 | 賜我生命、加我恩寵、眷佑我神、 | Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit. |
| 13 | 然爾有意、久蓄於衷、我所知也、 | And these things hast thou hid in thine heart: I know that this is with thee. |
| 14 | 我若干罪、爾則注目、必不赦我愆尤、 | If I sin, then thou markest me, and thou wilt not acquit me from mine iniquity. |
| 15 | 我若行惡、則有禍矣、我若爲義、亦不昂首、愧恥盈懷、目擊我難、 | If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine affliction; |
| 16 | 我若昂首、爾則獵我若獅、顯奇異於我躬、 | For it increaseth. Thou huntest me as a fierce lion: and again thou shewest thyself marvellous upon me. |
| 17 | 爾復立證攻我、向我增怒、如軍旅迭出以擊我、 | Thou renewest thy witnesses against me, and increasest thine indignation upon me; changes and war are against me. |
| 18 | 胡爲出我於胎、莫若氣絕、無目見我、 | Wherefore then hast thou brought me forth out of the womb? Oh that I had given up the ghost, and no eye had seen me! |
| 19 | 則我雖有若無、出胎卽舁於墓、 | I should have been as though I had not been; I should have been carried from the womb to the grave. |
| 20 | 我日非幾希乎、請爾止而舍我、俾我稍得慰藉、 | Are not my days few? cease then, and let me alone, that I may take comfort a little, |
| 21 | 在我往而不返之先、未至幽冥陰翳之地、 | Before I go whence I shall not return, even to the land of darkness and the shadow of death; |
| 22 | 其地昏黑幽冥、陰翳混沌、其光乃暗、 | A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness. |
