| 1 | 便雅憫人歟、逃出耶路撒冷以求安、吹角於提哥亞、立斾於伯哈基琳、蓋禍自北而著、毀滅甚巨、 | O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Beth–haccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction. |
| 2 | 美麗嬌嬈之錫安女、我必殄滅之、 | I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman. |
| 3 | 牧者與其羣羊必至、張幕於其四周、各於其地牧之、 | The shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place. |
| 4 | 爾其備戰、我儕其起、乘午以上、禍哉、日已西斜、夕影長矣、 | Prepare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day goeth away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out. |
| 5 | 起哉、夤夜而上、毀其宮室、 | Arise, and let us go by night, and let us destroy her palaces. |
| 6 | 萬軍之耶和華云、伐木築壘、以攻耶路撒冷、其中充斥苛虐、乃宜罰之邑也、 | For thus hath the Lord of hosts said, Hew ye down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her. |
| 7 | 彼肆行邪惡、如泉之湧水、強暴毀滅、聞於其間、疾病瘡痍、常在我前、 | As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds. |
| 8 | 耶路撒冷歟、爾宜受教、免我心厭爾、使爾地荒蕪、無人居處、 | Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited. |
| 9 | 萬軍之耶和華曰、人必盡拾以色列之遺民、若採葡萄、爾其反手、若採葡萄者攀枝而摘之、 | Thus saith the Lord of hosts, They shall throughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets. |
| 10 | 我將與誰言以警之、使之聞乎、其耳未潔、致不能聽、耶和華之言、彼視爲辱、不以爲悅、 | To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the Lord is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it. |
| 11 | 故我充以耶和華之怒、疲倦難忍、可傾之於衢中之童、及少壯之會、夫婦耆老、及年邁者、必皆被執、 | Therefore I am full of the fury of the Lord; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days. |
| 12 | 耶和華曰、我將伸手於此地之居民、其第宅田疇妻室、同歸他人、 | And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the Lord. |
| 13 | 因其自尊逮卑、咸屬貪婪、先知祭司、俱行虛誕、 | For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. |
| 14 | 彼醫我民之傷、畧而爲之、曰、平康平康、實無平康、 | They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. |
| 15 | 彼行可惡之事、豈知恥乎、非也、毫不知恥、亦不赧顏、故必仆於仆者之中、我譴責之際、彼必顚躓、耶和華言之矣、○ | Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord. |
| 16 | 耶和華曰、爾宜立道中而觀、訪其古道之善者而行之、如是、則心獲安、惟彼曰、我弗由之、 | Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. |
| 17 | 予立守望者以警爾、命爾聽其角聲、惟彼曰、我弗聽之、 | Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken. |
| 18 | 列邦歟、宜聽之、會衆歟、宜知斯民將遇之事、 | Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them. |
| 19 | 大地歟、其聽之、我必降災於斯民、爲其圖謀之果報、蓋彼不從我言、而棄我律、 | Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it. |
| 20 | 乳香來自示巴、菖蒲至自遠方、而獻於我、果何益哉、爾之燔祭、我不納之、爾之素祭、我不悅之、 | To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me. |
| 21 | 耶和華曰、我將置窒礙於民前、使父子同蹶、鄰友皆亡、○ | Therefore thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish. |
| 22 | 耶和華曰、有一族自北方而來、有大國自地極而興、 | Thus saith the Lord, Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth. |
| 23 | 執弓與戟、彼乃殘忍、不加矜恤、聲若海濤漰渤、錫安女歟、彼皆乘馬列陳、如戰士以攻爾、 | They shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as men for war against thee, O daughter of Zion. |
| 24 | 我旣聞其風聲、手則弱焉、痛苦迫我、憯怛若臨產之婦、 | We have heard the fame thereof: our hands wax feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, and pain, as of a woman in travail. |
| 25 | 勿往於田、勿行於道、蓋敵刃環繞、隨在震驚、 | Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side. |
| 26 | 我民女歟、爾其束麻、輾轉灰塵、爾其舉哀、號咷痛哭、若喪獨子、蓋殘賊者將倏然臨我、 | O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us. |
| 27 | 主曰、我已立爾在我民中、爲試者、爲保障、使爾察知其途、 | I have set thee for a tower and a fortress among my people, that thou mayest know and try their way. |
| 28 | 彼衆悖逆特甚、隨在誹謗、爲銅爲鐵、悉行邪惡、 | They are all grievous revolters, walking with slanders: they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters. |
| 29 | 風箱猛烈、鉛銷於火、鍊之不已、終屬徒勞、惡者未除也、 | The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away. |
| 30 | 人必稱爲棄銀、蓋耶和華棄之矣、 | Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the Lord hath rejected them. |
