| 1 | 以色列家歟、其聽耶和華諭爾之言、 | Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: |
| 2 | 耶和華曰、勿習異邦之俗、勿懼天象之兆、斯乃列邦所懼也、 | Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. |
| 3 | 列邦之例虛僞、有人由林伐木、匠人以斧製之、 | For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. |
| 4 | 以銀與金飾之、以鎚與釘釘之、使不動搖、 | They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. |
| 5 | 依椶樹之形鏇之、彼不能言、亦不能行、須人舁之、不能作惡、無能行善、爾勿畏之、 | They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. |
| 6 | 耶和華歟、無如爾者、惟爾爲大、爾名大有能力、 | Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord; thou art great, and thy name is great in might. |
| 7 | 萬國之王歟、孰不宜寅畏爾、此爲爾所應得、列邦智者顯厥尊榮、無如爾者、 | Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee. |
| 8 | 彼皆冥頑無知、偶像之道、惟木而已、 | But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities. |
| 9 | 有銀運自他施、擣之成片、有金至自烏法、金匠製之、有藍紫之布爲衣、悉屬巧工所製、 | Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men. |
| 10 | 惟耶和華誠爲上帝、乃維生之上帝、永久之王、震怒則大地顫動、發忿則列國莫當、○ | But the Lord is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. |
| 11 | 宜告之曰、非造天地之神、必滅於地上、亡於天下、 | Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens. |
| 12 | 耶和華以其能力創造大地、以其智慧奠定寰宇、以其明哲展布諸天、 | He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. |
| 13 | 彼發厥聲、則穹蒼之水鳴動、地極之雲上騰、電隨雨作、風自庫出、 | When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures. |
| 14 | 人皆冥頑無知、金匠因其雕像而羞慚、所鑄之像、乃爲虛僞、內無氣息、 | Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. |
| 15 | 悉屬虛無、惑人之工、譴責之際、俱必滅亡、 | They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish. |
| 16 | 雅各之業非若是、彼造萬物、以色列爲其嗣業之族、萬軍之耶和華、乃其名也、○ | The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The Lord of hosts is his name. |
| 17 | 爾處困者歟、收拾行囊、離乎斯土、 | Gather up thy wares out of the land, O inhabitant of the fortress. |
| 18 | 蓋耶和華曰、我於此時、必擲斯土居民、以困苦之、俾其覺悟、○ | For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this once, and will distress them, that they may find it so. |
| 19 | 禍哉我也、我受殘害、我受重傷、我曰、是誠我憂、我必承之、 | Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous: but I said, Truly this is a grief, and I must bear it. |
| 20 | 我幕毀、厥繩斷、我之子女離我無存、無人爲我張幕立帷、 | My tabernacle is spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains. |
| 21 | 民牧冥頑、未尋求耶和華、故作事不智、其羣四散、 | For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the Lord: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered. |
| 22 | 風聲傳至、大亂來自北方、將使猶大諸邑荒蕪、爲野犬之居所、 | Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons. |
| 23 | 耶和華歟、我知人之道途不由己、人行於世、不能自定其步履、 | O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. |
| 24 | 耶和華歟、從寬責我、毋加震怒、免我歸於烏有、 | O Lord, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing. |
| 25 | 其傾爾怒於不識爾之異邦、及不籲爾名之諸族、蓋彼吞噬雅各、而殲滅之、令其居所荒蕪、 | Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate. |
