1 耶和華欲以旋風、接以利亞升天時、以利亞偕以利沙、由吉甲而往、 And it came to pass, when the Lord would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
2 以利亞謂以利沙曰、耶和華遣我至伯特利、請爾待此、以利沙曰、我指維生之耶和華、及爾生命而誓、我不離爾、於是二人下伯特利、 And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Beth–el. And Elisha said unto him, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Beth–el.
3 居伯特利之先知徒、出迓以利沙曰、耶和華今日將接爾師、與爾相離、爾知之乎、曰、我知之、爾其緘默、 And the sons of the prophets that were at Beth–el came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
4 以利亞謂以利沙曰、耶和華遣我至耶利哥、請爾待此、曰、我指維生之耶和華、及爾生命而誓、我不離爾、於是二人至耶利哥、 And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.
5 居耶利哥之先知徒、詣以利沙曰、耶和華今日將接爾師、與爾相離、爾知之乎、曰、我知之、爾其緘默、 And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
6 以利亞謂之曰、耶和華遣我至約但、請爾待此、曰、我指維生之耶和華、及爾生命而誓、我不離爾、於是二人前往、 And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the Lord hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on.
7 先知徒五十人、往而遙立、與之相對、二人立於約但河濱、 And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.
8 以利亞卷其外衣擊水、水分左右、二人履陸而過、 And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.
9 旣過、以利亞謂以利沙曰、我未被接離爾之先、爾欲我爲爾何爲、則求之、以利沙曰、求使感爾之神、臨我維倍、 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
10 曰、爾所求者、難矣哉、雖然、我被接離爾之時、爾若見我、則必得之、否則不得、 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
11 二人且行且語、忽有火車火馬間之、以利亞乘旋風升天、 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
12 以利沙見而呼曰、我父歟、我父歟、以色列之車騎也、後不復見、遂取己衣、裂之爲二、 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.
13 又拾以利亞所墜之衣、返而立於約但河濱、 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;
14 以其衣擊水曰、以利亞之上帝耶和華安在、水旣見擊、亦分左右、以利沙過焉、 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the Lord God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.
15 居耶利哥之先知徒望見之、則曰、以利亞之神臨以利沙矣、遂來迎之、伏於其前、 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
16 謂之曰、爾僕有壯士五十在此、請爾容其往尋爾師、或耶和華之神取而投之某山某谷、曰、勿遣之、 And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the Lord hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.
17 彼衆促之、致其愧怍、則曰、可遣之、遂遣五十人尋之、三日不遇、 And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.
18 以利沙俟於耶利哥、被遣者返、以利沙曰、我豈未告爾勿往乎、○ And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?
19 邑民謂以利沙曰、試觀此邑、地勢佳美、我主所見也、惟其水惡劣、土產不稔而隕、 And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.
20 曰、取新盂盛鹽予我、遂取而予之、 And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.
21 以利沙出至水泉、投鹽其中、曰、耶和華云、我治此水、自茲以往、不復令人死、不使土產不稔而隕、 And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the Lord, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.
22 其水卽佳、至於今日、如以利沙所言、○ So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.
23 以利沙由此上伯特利、行於途間、有童子自邑出、戲之曰、頭童者其上歟、頭童者其上歟、 And he went up from thence unto Beth–el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
24 以利沙回顧、奉耶和華名詛之、遂有牝熊二、自林中出、裂童子四十二、 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
25 以利沙自此往迦密山、由彼返撒瑪利亞、 And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
