1 亞蘭與以色列國、三年無有戰事、 And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.
2 越至三年、猶大王約沙法、下詣以色列王、 And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.
3 以色列王謂其臣僕曰、爾豈不知基列拉末屬我、我乃寂然、不奪之於亞蘭王手乎、 And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?
4 遂問約沙法曰、爾願與我偕往基列拉末以戰乎、曰、爾我無異、我民如爾民、我馬如爾馬、 And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramoth–gilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.
5 又曰、請先諮諏耶和華、 And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the Lord to day.
6 以色列王乃集先知、約四百人、謂之曰、我往基列拉末以戰、可否、曰、往哉、主必付之於王手、 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramoth–gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
7 約沙法曰、在此、非尚有耶和華之先知、可詢之乎、 And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Lord besides, that we might enquire of him?
8 以色列王曰、尚有一人、音拉子米該雅、可藉之諮諏耶和華、然我憾之、因其論我之預言、有凶而無吉、約沙法曰、王勿言是、 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
9 以色列王召一宦者、曰、速令音拉子米該雅至、 Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten hither Micaiah the son of Imlah.
10 以色列王與猶大王約沙法、各衣朝服、坐於位、在撒瑪利亞邑門之場、衆先知預言於其前、 And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
11 基拿拿子西底家曾製鐵角、曰、耶和華云、爾必以此角觸亞蘭人、至於盡滅、 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them.
12 衆先知亦如是預言曰、可往基列拉末、而得利達、蓋耶和華將付之於王手、 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth–gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliver it into the king’s hand.
13 往召米該雅之使謂之曰、諸先知衆口一辭、以吉語告王、請爾與彼同辭、告以吉語、 And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.
14 米該雅曰、我指維生之耶和華而誓、耶和華所諭我者、我必言之、 And Micaiah said, As the Lord liveth, what the Lord saith unto me, that will I speak.
15 旣至王前、王曰、米該雅、我儕往基列拉末以戰、可否、曰、可往、而得利達、耶和華必付之王手、 So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramoth–gilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
16 王曰、我須幾次囑爾、奉耶和華名與我言、惟以誠實乎、 And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the Lord?
17 曰、我觀以色列衆散布於山、猶羊無牧、耶和華曰、斯衆無主、可各安歸其家、 And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the Lord said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.
18 以色列王謂約沙法曰、我豈不云、彼論我之預言、有凶無吉乎、 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?
19 米該雅曰、其聽耶和華之言、我見耶和華坐於其位、天上萬軍咸侍左右、 And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
20 耶和華曰、誰願誘亞哈往基列拉末、而隕沒乎、其一曰如此、其一曰如彼、 And the Lord said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth–gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.
21 後有神出、立於耶和華前曰、我願誘之、 And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said, I will persuade him.
22 曰、何以誘之、曰、我將出爲誑言之神、在其衆先知之口、曰、爾往爲之、必成其事、 And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.
23 今耶和華以誑言之神、置爾衆先知之口、耶和華有言、將加禍於爾、 Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.
24 基拿拿子西底家、前批米該雅之頰曰、耶和華之神、自我往與爾言、由於何途、 But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the Lord from me to speak unto thee?
25 米該雅曰、爾匿密室之日、則必見之、 And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.
26 以色列王曰、執米該雅、歸付邑宰亞們、及王子約阿施、 And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;
27 告之曰、王命拘此夫於獄、食以艱苦之餅、飲以艱苦之水、待我安歸、 And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.
28 米該雅曰、如爾安歸、則是耶和華未藉我而言、又曰、諸民、爾其聽之、○ And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you.
29 以色列王與猶大王約沙法、往基列拉末、 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth–gilead.
30 以色列王謂約沙法曰、我將改裝入陳、惟爾當衣王服、以色列王遂改裝入陳、 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.
31 亞蘭王曾命車長三十二人曰、尊卑俱勿與戰、惟與以色列王而已、 But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.
32 車長見約沙法、則曰、此必以色列王也、遂轉戰之、約沙法號呼、 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.
33 車長見非以色列王、則返而不追、 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
34 有人偶爾挽弓、射中以色列王甲縫、王謂御者曰、我重傷矣、旋車載我出軍、 And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.
35 是日戰勢劇烈、王被扶立於車、以禦亞蘭人、創劇血流、至於車底、迨夕而死、 And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot.
36 日入之際、有令傳於軍中曰、各歸故邑故土、 And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country.
37 王薨、舁至撒瑪利亞、而葬於彼、 So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.
38 有人在撒瑪利亞池、洗濯其車、犬舐其血、如耶和華所言、此池、娼妓素浴其中、 And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the Lord which he spake.
39 亞哈其餘事蹟、凡其所爲、與建象牙之宮、曁築諸邑、俱載於以色列列王紀、 Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
40 亞哈與列祖偕眠、子亞哈謝嗣位、○ So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
41 以色列王亞哈四年、亞撒子約沙法卽位、爲猶大王、 And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.
42 時、年三十有五、在耶路撒冷爲王、歷二十五年、其母阿蘇巴、示利希女也、 Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
43 約沙法循其父亞撒之道、不偏離之、行耶和華所悅、惟崇邱未廢、民仍獻祭焚香於其上、 And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the Lord: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.
44 約沙法與以色列王修好、 And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.
45 約沙法其餘事蹟、及所著之勇力、與其戰績、俱載於猶大列王紀、 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
46 其父亞撒時所遺孌童、約沙法盡除之於國中、 And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land.
47 當時以東無王、方伯主治、 There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king.
48 約沙法造他施舟、欲往俄斐取金、因在以旬迦別舟破、不果、 Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Ezion–geber.
49 亞哈子亞哈謝告約沙法曰、容我僕與爾僕、同舟偕往、約沙法不許、 Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.
50 約沙法與列祖偕眠、同葬於大衞城、子約蘭嗣位、○ And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.
51 猶大王約沙法十七年、亞哈子亞哈謝卽位、在撒瑪利亞、爲以色列王、凡歷二年、 Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.
52 行耶和華所惡、循其父母之道、與尼八子耶羅波安使以色列族陷罪之道、 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:
53 奉事崇拜巴力、激以色列上帝耶和華之怒、皆如其父所行、 For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the Lord God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
