| 2 | 是日宴時、王復問以斯帖曰、后以斯帖、爾何所求、我必予爾、爾何所欲、卽國之半、亦必爲之、 | And the king said again unto Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition, queen Esther? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? and it shall be performed, even to the half of the kingdom. |
| 3 | 后以斯帖對曰、我若沾恩於王前、且王悅之、則請依我所求、賜我生命、依我所欲、保我民族、 | Then Esther the queen answered and said, If I have found favour in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request: |
| 4 | 我與我民見鬻、欲加殺戮翦滅、俾歸隕亡、我儕若被鬻爲奴爲婢、我則緘默不言、蓋以我儕遇禍、較王受損、不足數也、 | For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my tongue, although the enemy could not countervail the king’s damage. |
| 5 | 王謂后以斯帖曰、敢起意爲此者、誰乎、其人何在、 | Then the king Ahasuerus answered and said unto Esther the queen, Who is he, and where is he, that durst presume in his heart to do so? |
| 6 | 以斯帖曰、厥仇厥敵、卽此惡人哈曼也、於是哈曼驚懼、在王與后前、 | And Esther said, The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman. Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen. |
| 7 | 王忿然而起、離席往於御苑、哈曼知王必罪己、則起立、求后以斯帖救其生命、 | And the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden: and Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king. |
| 8 | 王自御苑復返宴所、見哈曼伏於以斯帖所在之榻、則曰、在宮中、在我前、彼乃強迫后耶、王出斯言、左右遂蒙哈曼面、 | Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman was fallen upon the bed whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face. |
| 9 | 侍王之內豎哈波拿曰、末底改昔有救王之功、哈曼爲之備木、高五丈、今立於己家、王曰、懸之其上、 | And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who had spoken good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him thereon. |
| 10 | 遂以哈曼、懸於爲末底改所備之木、王怒乃息、 | So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king’s wrath pacified. |
