| 2 | 在御門之臣僕、俱遵王命、跪拜哈曼、惟末底改不跪不拜、 | And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence. |
| 3 | 御門臣僕問之曰、爾奚違王命、 | Then the king’s servants, which were in the king’s gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king’s commandment? |
| 4 | 日諫末底改、末底改不聽、衆以告哈曼、欲觀末底改事之究竟、蓋末底改以己爲猶大人告之也、 | Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai’s matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew. |

| 6 | 衆以末底改國族告哈曼、哈曼以爲殺此一人、猶微事耳、欲將亞哈隨魯王通國、末底改之同宗猶大人、盡行殲滅、 | And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai. |
| 7 | 亞哈隨魯王十二年正月、卽尼散月、人在哈曼前、按日與月掣普珥、卽籤、至十二月、卽亞達月爲吉、 | In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar. |
| 8 | 哈曼奏王曰、有一族、散處爾國諸州、其律異乎萬民、不遵王律、容之於王無益、 | And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is not for the king’s profit to suffer them. |
| 9 | 如王悅之、可頒明詔、翦滅斯族、我將以銀一萬他連得、付於掌國帑者、以儲王庫、 | If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king’s treasuries. |

| 12 | 正月十三日、遂召王之繕寫、從哈曼所命書詔、依各州文字、各族方言、繕以御名、鈐以王之指環、普告王臣、各州方伯、各族民長、 | Then were the king’s scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king’s lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king’s ring. |
| 13 | 遣郵傳詔各州、使於十二月、卽亞達月十三日、一日之間、將猶大人、無論老幼、嬰孩婦女、盡行殺戮翦滅、俾其隕亡、取其貨財、以爲己有、 | And the letters were sent by posts into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey. |
| 14 | 所錄之詔、頒行各州、宣告各族、使之預備、以待是日、 | The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day. |
| 15 | 在書珊宮降詔、郵驛遵命、其行甚速、王與哈曼坐而飲、惟書珊邑、則紛擾焉、 | The posts went out, being hastened by the king’s commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed. |
