| 1 | 迨爾上帝耶和華、導爾入所往據之地、驅逐諸族、卽赫人、革迦撒人、亞摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人、此七族較爾強大、 | When the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou; |
| 2 | 爾上帝耶和華旣付於爾、爲爾所擊、必殲滅之、勿與立約、勿加矜恤、 | And when the Lord thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them: |
| 3 | 勿相嫁娶、爾女勿嫁其子、爾子勿娶其女、 | Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son. |
| 4 | 彼必誘爾子、不從耶和華、而事他神、致耶和華震怒、滅爾甚速、 | For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly. |
| 5 | 爾當毀其壇、碎其柱像、斫其木偶、火其雕像、必如是待之、 | But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire. |
| 6 | 蓋爾乃爾上帝耶和華之聖民、爾上帝耶和華於寰區億兆中、特選爾爲己民、 | For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. |
| 7 | 耶和華悅爾選爾、非爲爾多於他邦之民、爾數較之維寡、 | The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: |
| 8 | 惟因耶和華悅爾、欲踐所誓爾祖之言、以大能手導爾出、贖爾於奴隸之室、拯爾於埃及王法老之手、 | But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. |
| 9 | 當知惟爾上帝耶和華爲上帝、乃信實之上帝、愛之而守其誡者、彼必爲之踐約施恩、迄於千代、 | Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; |
| 10 | 惡之者、彼必報之、滅之、凡惡之者、必報弗緩、 | And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face. |
| 11 | 故我今所諭爾之誡命、典章律例、爾宜謹守遵行、○ | Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them. |
| 12 | 爾若聽從律例、而遵行之、則爾上帝耶和華、必踐與爾祖以誓而立之約、施恩於爾、 | Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the Lord thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers: |
| 13 | 亦必眷愛爾、福祚爾、昌熾爾、且於誓許爾祖、賜爾之地、錫嘏爾身所出、爾土所產、及爾穀酒與油、使爾牛羊蕃滋、 | And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee. |
| 14 | 爾將蒙福、勝於萬民、男女牲畜、無不生育、 | Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle. |
| 15 | 耶和華必除爾諸病、爾所識埃及之惡疾、不加諸爾、而加諸敵、 | And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee. |
| 16 | 爾上帝耶和華所付爾之民、必翦滅之、勿加顧惜、勿事其神、蓋爲爾之坎阱、○ | And thou shalt consume all the people which the Lord thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee. |
| 17 | 爾若意謂、此諸族較多於我、何能驅逐、 | If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them? |
| 18 | 勿懼之、當憶爾上帝耶和華、所行於法老與埃及之事、 | Thou shalt not be afraid of them: but shalt well remember what the Lord thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt; |
| 19 | 卽爾所目覩之試鍊、異蹟、奇事、能手、奮臂、爾上帝耶和華用以導爾出者、爾所懼之諸族、爾上帝耶和華亦必如是待之、 | The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the Lord thy God brought thee out: so shall the Lord thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid. |
| 20 | 爾上帝耶和華必使大蜂至其中、迨藏匿之遺民、滅於爾前、 | Moreover the Lord thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed. |
| 21 | 勿因之而懼、爾上帝耶和華在爾中、乃大而可畏之上帝、 | Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the Lord thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible. |
| 22 | 爾上帝耶和華將漸逐斯族、勿速滅之、恐野獸孳生而害爾、 | And the Lord thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee. |
| 23 | 爾上帝耶和華必以之付爾、大擾亂之、至於盡絕、 | But the Lord thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed. |
| 24 | 亦付其王於爾手、爾必滅其名於天下、莫能禦爾、迨爾殲之、 | And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them. |
| 25 | 其神之雕像、必焚以火、其上金銀、勿貪勿取、免爾因此陷於坎阱、以其爲爾上帝耶和華所惡也、 | The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the Lord thy God. |
| 26 | 可憎之物、勿攜入室、恐爾亦成爲當滅者、與物無異、必憾之甚、憎之極、以其爲當滅之物也、 | Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing. |
