| 1 | 非利士人集其軍旅於亞弗、以色列人建營於耶斯列泉旁、 | Now the Philistines gathered together all their armies to Aphek: and the Israelites pitched by a fountain which is in Jezreel. |
| 2 | 非利士牧伯率軍、或百或千、向前而進、大衞與其從者偕亞吉、隨諸其後、 | And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands: but David and his men passed on in the rereward with Achish. |
| 3 | 非利士牧伯曰、此希伯來人何爲、亞吉曰、此非以色列王掃羅臣僕大衞乎、彼與我偕、有日有年、自投誠至今、未見其有過、 | Then said the princes of the Philistines, What do these Hebrews here? And Achish said unto the princes of the Philistines, Is not this David, the servant of Saul the king of Israel, which hath been with me these days, or these years, and I have found no fault in him since he fell unto me unto this day? |
| 4 | 牧伯怒亞吉曰、可使此人返爾所置之地、毋令偕我出戰、恐戰陳之間、反爲我敵、彼欲與其主和、何所需耶、非以我衆之首級乎、 | And the princes of the Philistines were wroth with him; and the princes of the Philistines said unto him, Make this fellow return, that he may go again to his place which thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he be an adversary to us: for wherewith should he reconcile himself unto his master? should it not be with the heads of these men? |
| 5 | 昔有人舞蹈唱和曰、掃羅殺其千千、大衞殺其萬萬、非此大衞乎、 | Is not this David, of whom they sang one to another in dances, saying, Saul slew his thousands, and David his ten thousands? |
| 6 | 亞吉召大衞曰、我指維生之耶和華而誓、爾乃端正、偕我出入軍中、我視爲善、自爾來歸、未嘗見爾有惡、惟牧伯不愛爾、 | Then Achish called David, and said unto him, Surely, as the Lord liveth, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the host is good in my sight: for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day: nevertheless the lords favour thee not. |
| 7 | 今當安然以歸、勿使牧伯不悅、 | Wherefore now return, and go in peace, that thou displease not the lords of the Philistines. |
| 8 | 大衞曰、我何所爲、自我從爾、至於今日、爾視爾僕有何事故、不容往攻我主我王之敵、 | And David said unto Achish, But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant so long as I have been with thee unto this day, that I may not go fight against the enemies of my lord the king? |
| 9 | 亞吉曰、爾在我前爲善、如上帝之使然、此我所知、但牧伯謂爾不可偕我往戰、 | And Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou art good in my sight, as an angel of God: notwithstanding the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle. |
| 10 | 爾及爾主之僕、明晨夙興、及旦而去、 | Wherefore now rise up early in the morning with thy master’s servants that are come with thee: and as soon as ye be up early in the morning, and have light, depart. |
| 11 | 翌日、大衞與從者夙興、歸非利士地、非利士人遂往耶斯列、 | So David and his men rose up early to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel. |
