1 或告大衞曰、非利士人攻基伊拉、刦其禾場、 Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors.
2 大衞諮諏耶和華曰、我往擊非利士人可否、耶和華曰、其往擊之、以援基伊拉、 Therefore David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the Lord said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.
3 大衞之從者曰、今在猶大尚懼、況往基伊拉、攻非利士之軍旅乎、 And David’s men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?
4 大衞復諮諏耶和華、耶和華曰、起往基伊拉、我將以非利士人付於爾手、 Then David enquired of the Lord yet again. And the Lord answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
5 大衞及從者往基伊拉、與非利士人戰、大行殺戮、虜其牲畜、而救基伊拉居民、○ So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
6 初、亞希米勒子亞比亞他逃至基伊拉、見大衞時、手攜聖衣、 And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.
7 或以大衞至基伊拉告掃羅、掃羅曰、上帝付之於我手矣、蓋入有門有楗之邑、受困於其中也、 And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.
8 掃羅乃招民衆出戰、欲下基伊拉、圍困大衞、及其從者、 And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.
9 大衞知掃羅蓄謀害己、遂謂祭司亞比亞他曰、攜聖衣至、 And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.
10 大衞禱曰、以色列之上帝耶和華歟、爾僕確聞掃羅欲至基伊拉、以我之故、翦滅斯邑、 Then said David, O Lord God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.
11 基伊拉人付我於其手乎、掃羅果來、如僕所聞乎、以色列之上帝耶和華歟、請告爾僕、耶和華曰、掃羅將至矣、 Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O Lord God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the Lord said, He will come down.
12 大衞曰、基伊拉人以我及從者、付於掃羅手乎、耶和華曰、彼必付焉、 Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the Lord said, They will deliver thee up.
13 大衞與其從者、約六百人、遂去基伊拉、擇地而往、或告掃羅曰、大衞脫離基伊拉、掃羅遂止不出、○ Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth.
14 大衞居曠野之山寨、恆在西弗野之山地、掃羅索之無虛日、惟上帝不付於其手、 And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.
15 大衞知掃羅已出、而索其命、時、大衞在西弗野之林中、 And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.
16 掃羅子約拿單入林、見大衞、使賴上帝以爲固、 And Jonathan Saul’s son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.
17 謂之曰、毋懼、我父掃羅之手、必不獲爾、爾將爲以色列王、我居其次、是我父掃羅所知也、 And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.
18 二人乃於耶和華前立約、大衞居林、約拿單歸其家、 And they two made a covenant before the Lord: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.
19 西弗人上基比亞、見掃羅曰、大衞匿於我所、處於林中之寨、在曠野南之哈基拉山、 Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?
20 王歟、隨意往彼、付之於王手、乃我之責也、 Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand.
21 掃羅曰、爾旣恤我、願耶和華錫嘏於爾、 And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the Lord; for ye have compassion on me.
22 人言大衞甚狡、請爾旋歸、復察其實、觀其匿於何方、爲誰所見、 Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very subtilly.
23 察其所匿諸處、旣得其實、則返以告、我偕爾往、若在斯土、我必於猶大億兆中、索之務獲、 See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.
24 西弗人遂起、先掃羅而返、時、大衞與從者、在瑪雲曠野南之亞拉巴、 And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.
25 掃羅率從者往索之、或告大衞、大衞遂下至磐石、居瑪雲野、掃羅聞之、追於其野、 Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.
26 掃羅行於山左、大衞與從者行於山右、大衞畏掃羅、急欲逃避、因掃羅與從者圍大衞及其從者、欲執之、 And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.
27 有使者至、謂掃羅曰、非利士人犯境、其速返、 But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.
28 掃羅乃舍大衞、轉攻非利士人、故名其處曰西拉哈瑪希羅結、 Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Sela–hammahlekoth.
29 大衞去彼、居隱基底山寨、 And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at En–gedi.
