| 1 | 當時、門徒增多、有操希利尼音之猶太人、訾議希伯來人、因每日供給、而忽其嫠也、 | And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. |
| 2 | 十二徒召衆門徒曰、我儕遺上帝道、而几筵是役、非宜也、 | Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. |
| 3 | 兄弟乎、當於爾中擇有令名、充於聖神及智者七人、我儕可立之以司斯事、 | Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. |
| 4 | 我則專務祈禱宣道、 | But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. |
| 5 | 衆悅其言、遂選司提反、乃充乎信與聖神者、及腓利、伯羅哥羅、尼迦挪、提門、巴米拿、並進教之安提阿人尼哥拉、 | And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: |
| 6 | 立之於使徒前、遂祈禱手按之、○ | Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them. |
| 7 | 上帝之道益興、門徒之數、極盛於耶路撒冷、祭司之服從斯道者亦衆、○ | And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. |
| 8 | 司提反充乎恩與能、大行異蹟奇兆於民中、 | And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. |
| 9 | 有稱爲利百地拿會堂、及古利奈、亞力山太、基利家、亞西亞之會堂者數人、起而與司提反辯論、 | Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen. |
| 10 | 司提反以智與神而言、衆莫能禦、 | And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. |
| 11 | 遂賄人使言曰、我儕曾聞其有謗讟摩西、及上帝之言、 | Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God. |
| 12 | 乃聳動衆民、與長老士子、突來執之、曳至公會、 | And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council, |
| 13 | 設僞證者、曰、此人出言謗讟聖所及律法不已、 | And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law: |
| 14 | 蓋我儕曾聞其言曰、斯拿撒勒人耶穌、將毀此所、且易摩西授我之規、 | For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us. |
| 15 | 坐公會中者、皆注目司提反、見其容如天使之容焉、 | And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel. |
