| 1 | 約瑟曾孫、瑪拿西孫、瑪吉子基列後裔之族長、 | And the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spake before Moses, and before the princes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel: |
| 2 | 就摩西及以色列族長之爲牧伯者曰、耶和華命我主、掣籤分土、予以色列族爲業、亦命我主、以我昆弟西羅非哈之業予其女、 | And they said, The Lord commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: and my lord was commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters. |
| 3 | 如適以色列他支派之人、則減我祖之業、而加於其夫之支派、如是、於我籤分之業有損、 | And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall it be taken from the lot of our inheritance. |
| 4 | 值以色列族禧年、則女之業、必歸於其夫之支派、而我祖之業必減焉、 | And when the jubile of the children of Israel shall be, then shall their inheritance be put unto the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers. |
| 5 | 摩西遵耶和華命、告以色列族曰、約瑟子之支派、所言是也、 | And Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of the Lord, saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph hath said well. |
| 6 | 耶和華命曰、西羅非哈之女、任其適人、惟必適父同宗支派之人、 | This is the thing which the Lord doth command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry. |
| 7 | 如是、以色列族之業、不至由此移彼、以色列各支派之人、守祖遺業、 | So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers. |
| 8 | 凡以色列支派中、承業之女、必適其父同宗支派之人、使以色列族各承厥祖之遺業、 | And every daughter, that possesseth an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, shall be wife unto one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers. |
| 9 | 如是、則業不至由此移彼、以色列支派、必各守其業、 | Neither shall the inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance. |
| 10 | 西羅非哈之女、遂遵耶和華命摩西之言而行、 | Even as the Lord commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad: |
| 11 | 其女瑪拉、得撒、曷拉、密迦、挪阿、俱適叔伯之子、 | For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their father’s brothers’ sons: |
| 12 | 歸於約瑟子瑪拿西宗族、其業存於父之同宗支派、 | And they were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father. |
| 13 | 以上所載、乃於摩押平原、約但河濱、耶利哥相對之所、耶和華藉摩西、告以色列族之誡命律例也、 | These are the commandments and the judgments, which the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho. |
