1 至海之彼岸、格拉森地、 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.
2 離舟時、有患邪鬼者、自墓出、卽遇之、 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
3 其人素居於塚、雖以鏈、亦莫能縛之、 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
4 蓋屢以桎以鏈縛之、則斷鏈毀桎、弗克制之、 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
5 恆於塚於山、日夜號呼、以石自傷、 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
6 遙見耶穌、趨而拜之、 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
7 大呼曰、至高上帝之子耶穌、我與爾何涉、我賴上帝、懇爾莫我苦、 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
8 蓋耶穌曾語之曰、邪鬼出其人也、 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
9 遂問之曰、爾何名、對曰、軍、我儕多故也、 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
10 乃切求耶穌、勿使之出境、 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
11 適有羣豕食於山、 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
12 衆鬼求曰、使我入附於豕、 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
13 耶穌許之、卽出而入豕、羣豕突下山坡、投海而溺、數約二千、 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
14 牧者奔告城鄉、衆出、欲觀其事、 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
15 旣就耶穌、見患羣鬼者、坐而衣衣自若、則懼、 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
16 見者以患鬼者所遇、及羣豕之事、悉告於衆、 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
17 衆遂求耶穌出其境、 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
18 耶穌登舟時、曩患鬼者、求與之偕、 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
19 弗許、曰、歸爾家、就爾屬、以主爲爾所行之大事、及若何矜恤爾者告之、 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
20 其人乃往、在低加波利、宣揚耶穌爲己所行之大事、衆悉奇之、○ And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
21 耶穌乘舟、復濟彼岸、大衆聚集、就之於海濱、 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.
22 有司會堂名睚魯者、來見耶穌、伏其足下、 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
23 切求之曰、我幼女瀕死、爾來以手按之、俾得愈而生焉、 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
24 耶穌偕之往、大衆從而擁之、 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
25 有婦患痭十有二年、 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26 曾由諸醫而受多苦、盡耗所有、不見益而反劇、 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27 聞耶穌事、於衆中自後而來、捫其衣、 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
28 蓋謂第捫其衣、則必愈焉、 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29 其血源立涸、自覺痼疾已愈、 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30 時耶穌覺有能力由己而出、乃於衆中轉身曰、捫我衣者誰耶、 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
31 其徒曰、爾見衆擁爾、尚問誰捫我乎、 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32 耶穌環視、欲見行此之婦、 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
33 婦知所成於己者、恐懼戰慄、進伏其前、悉以實告、 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 耶穌曰、女乎、爾信救爾、安然而歸、爾痼疾愈矣、○ And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
35 言時、有自司會堂來者、曰、爾女亡矣、何尚勞夫子耶、 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
36 耶穌不顧其所言、謂司會堂者曰、毋懼、惟信而已、 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
37 乃於彼得、雅各、及雅各之弟約翰外、不許他人從行、 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
38 至司會堂者之家、見其紛擾、哭泣號咷、 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
39 旣入則曰、胡爲紛擾哭泣乎、女非死、乃寢耳、 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 衆哂之、耶穌屛衆、率女之父母與從者、入於女所、 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
41 執其手曰、大利大古米、譯卽幼女乎、吾語爾起、 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
42 女卽起而行、蓋年十有二矣、衆甚駭異、 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
43 耶穌嚴戒之、毋令人知、且命食女焉、 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.
