1 巴比倫王伯沙撒元年、但以理得夢、在牀見異象、遂書其夢、述其大畧、 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.
2 曰、我夜見異象、天之四風驟起、與大海相搏、 Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.
3 有四巨獸、自海而出、其狀各殊、 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.
4 其一若獅、有鷹之翼、我視之、見其翼被拔、厥獸被舉而起、立以二足如人、且得畀以人心、 The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.
5 其次之獸若熊、半身側立、其口齒間、啣三脇骨、有謂之曰、起、吞噬多肉、 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.
6 厥後、又見一獸若豹、背有四鳥翼、獸亦有四首、得賜以權、 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
7 此後於夜間異象中、我見其四之獸、可畏可懼、極強有力、亦有鐵牙甚巨、吞噬碎裂、足踐所餘、與前諸獸迥異、首有十角、 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
8 我思維其角時、見一小角生於其中、前角中之三角、爲小角所拔、小角有目若人、有口出言誇大、 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
9 我視之、見有座設立、一年高者坐焉、衣皜如雪、髮潔若純粹之羊毛、火炎其座、烈燄其輪、 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
10 火川出於其前、服役者千千、侍立者萬萬、鞫事已備、書卷悉展、 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
11 其時我因小角出言誇大、則注目而視、迨至其獸見殺、其身被毀、爲火所焚、 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
12 所餘之獸、其權被奪、惟延其生、以待時期、 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.
13 我於夜間異象中、又見一人若人子者、乘天雲而來、詣年高者、被引至於其前、 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
14 乃錫以權、與榮與國、使諸民諸國、諸方言者咸事之、其權恆存弗替、其國永不見滅、○ And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
15 我但以理心憂於中、所見之異象、令我煩擾、 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.
16 我乃就一侍者、詢諸事之實、彼以之告我、爲我解其義曰、 I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.
17 此四巨獸卽四王、將出於世者、 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.
18 惟至上者之聖民、必承其國、以爲己有、永世靡曁、 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.
19 我欲知第四獸之實、以其異於他獸、甚可畏懼、其牙爲鐵、其爪爲銅、吞噬碎裂、足踐所餘、 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;
20 又欲知其首之十角、及生於其中之一角、使三角墜於其前者、是角有目、有口出言誇大、其狀大於他角、 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.
21 我視之、見斯角與聖民戰而獲勝、 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
22 迨年高者至、爲至上者之聖民伸寃、聖民得國之期已屆、 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
23 侍者曰、第四獸、卽在世之第四國、異於諸國、將吞噬天下、踐而碎之、 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
24 其十角卽十王、將由此國而興、其後有一王起、異於前者、將服三王、 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
25 彼出言逆至上者、銷磨其聖民、意欲改易節期法律、聖民將付於其手、歷一載二載半載、 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
26 鞫事已備、必奪其權、毀之滅之、至於終極、 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.
27 惟國與權、及天下萬邦之尊顯、必咸畀於至上者之聖民、其國爲永久之國、凡秉權者、必服事順從之、 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
28 其言至此而竟、我但以理中懷煩擾、容色改變、惟存此事於心、 Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.
