1 耶穌語民諸言旣畢、遂入迦百農、 Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
2 有百夫長之愛僕、病將死、 And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.
3 風聞耶穌、遣猶太長老求之、來醫其僕、 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.
4 乃詣耶穌懇求曰、爾爲之行此、其人宜也、 And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:
5 以其愛我民、爲我建會堂、 For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.
6 耶穌偕往、距室不遠、百夫長遣友就而謂之曰、主、毋勞、爾臨我舍、我不堪也、 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:
7 卽我就爾、亦覺不堪、第發一言、我僕必愈、 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.
8 蓋我隸人權、有士卒隸我權、命此往則往、彼來則來、命僕行是則行是、 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
9 耶穌聞而奇之、回顧從者曰、我語汝、如是之篤信、卽以色列中、亦未之見也、 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
10 所遣者歸、見僕已愈、○ And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.
11 未幾、耶穌適一邑、名拿因、其徒及大衆同行、 And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.
12 近邑門、有舁死者出、其母獨此子而嫠、邑民送之者甚衆、 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.
13 主見而憫之、曰、毋哭、 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.
14 遂近按其櫬、舁者止、耶穌曰、少者、我命爾起、 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.
15 死者起而坐且言、遂付之於其母、 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.
16 衆驚懼、歸榮上帝曰、大先知興於我中、上帝臨格其民矣、 And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.
17 此風聲徧揚於猶太及四方、○ And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judea, and throughout all the region round about.
18 約翰之徒以斯事悉告之、 And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things.
19 約翰遂召其徒二人、遣詣耶穌曰、當來者爾乎、抑他人是望乎、 And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
20 二人詣耶穌曰、施洗約翰遣我詣爾云、當來者爾乎、抑他人是望乎、 When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
21 時、耶穌醫諸疾病痛苦、及患惡鬼者、且多賜瞽者得明、 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.
22 遂語之曰、以爾所見所聞、往告約翰、如瞽者明、跛者行、癩者潔、聾者聰、死者甦、貧者聞福音、 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.
23 凡不我棄者福矣、○ And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
24 約翰之使者退、耶穌舉約翰語衆曰、爾曩出野何觀耶、風動之葦乎、 And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
25 抑爾出何觀耶、衣毳衣者乎、夫衣文繡而享膏粱者、在王宮也、 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings’ courts.
26 然則爾出何觀耶、觀先知乎、是也、我語汝、且卓越於先知也、 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.
27 此卽經所謂、我遣我使先爾、以備爾路者也、 This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
28 我語汝、婦之所生、未有大於約翰者、然在上帝國之微者、猶大於彼也、 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
29 庶民與稅吏、旣受約翰之洗、聞之遂義上帝、 And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.
30 惟法利賽人與律師、未受其洗、自暴而拒上帝之旨、 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.
31 又曰、斯世之人、我何以比之、彼何似耶、 And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?
32 似童子坐於市、相呼曰、我吹籥、爾不踊、我舉哀、爾不哭、 They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.
33 蓋施洗約翰至、不食餅、不飲酒、爾言其患鬼、 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.
34 人子至、式食式飲、爾言其嗜食甘酒、稅吏罪人之友也、 The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
35 夫智也、惟其弟子義之、○ But wisdom is justified of all her children.
36 有法利賽人、請耶穌共食、遂入其家席坐、 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat.
37 邑中一婦、罪人也、知耶穌席坐於法利賽人之家、攜玉甁盛香膏、 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
38 立其後、傍其足而哭、淚濡其足、以髮拭之、且吻接之、以香膏膏之、 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 請耶穌之法利賽人見之、意謂斯人若先知、必知捫之者爲誰、爲何如婦、乃罪人也、 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
40 耶穌謂之曰、西門、我有以語爾、曰、夫子言之、 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
41 曰、債主某、有二負債者、一負五十金、一負五金、 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
42 因無以償、悉免之、斯二人之愛債主、孰甚、 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
43 西門對曰、我意其多免者、曰、爾所擬者是也、 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
44 遂顧婦語西門曰、爾見此婦乎、我入爾家、爾未嘗以水濯我足、惟彼以淚濡我足、以髮拭之、 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
45 爾未嘗吻接我、惟彼自我入時、吻接我足不已、 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
46 爾未嘗以膏膏我首、惟彼以香膏膏我足、 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
47 故我語汝、彼多罪見赦矣、以其多愛也、惟赦之少者、其愛亦少、 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
48 遂謂婦曰、爾罪赦矣、 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
49 同席者相語曰、此爲誰、而赦罪乎、 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
50 耶穌謂婦曰、爾信救爾矣、可安然而往、 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
