| 1 | 愛友乎、我儕旣有此諸許、當潔己、盡去身心之汚、畏上帝而成聖、○ | Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. |
| 2 | 宜容納我、我未嘗枉人、未嘗陷人、未嘗欺人、 | Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man. |
| 3 | 我言此、非罪爾、蓋我曾言、爾在我心、死生共之、 | I speak not this to condemn you: for I have said before, that ye are in our hearts to die and live with you. |
| 4 | 我向爾言、侃侃然也、爲爾大有矜誇、且於諸難之中、慰爲之滿、喜爲之溢、○ | Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation. |
| 5 | 我至馬其頓時、身無寧處、隨在遭難、外有爭、內有懼、 | For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears. |
| 6 | 然慰卑微者之上帝、以提多之至慰我矣、 | Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus; |
| 7 | 非第因其至、亦因其所受於爾之慰慰我、卽以爾之戀慕憂傷、及爲我熱衷告我、令我益喜、 | And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more. |
| 8 | 昔我遺書使爾憂、雖曾悔之、今不悔矣、蓋知此書令爾憂者暫耳、 | For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season. |
| 9 | 今我喜、非因爾憂、乃因爾由憂而生改悔、蓋爾憂乃依上帝旨、致爾無所受損於我儕、 | Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. |
| 10 | 夫依上帝旨而憂、則生改悔、以致得救、無後悔、惟斯世之憂則致死、 | For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. |
| 11 | 試觀爾依上帝旨而憂、生何如之慇懃、自訴、怨艾、恐懼、戀慕、熱衷、譴責、爾於斯事、悉自表爲潔矣、 | For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter. |
| 12 | 我雖以書遺爾、非因枉人者、亦非因枉於人者、惟令爾爲我之慇懃顯於爾中、在上帝前、 | Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you. |
| 13 | 緣此我儕受慰、且於是慰、因提多之喜而益喜、以其心爲爾衆而暢遂、 | Therefore we were comforted in your comfort: yea, and exceedingly the more joyed we for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all. |
| 14 | 我誇爾於提多者、今無愧矣、我所語爾者悉眞、誇爾於彼者亦眞、 | For if I have boasted any thing to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spake all things to you in truth, even so our boasting, which I made before Titus, is found a truth. |
| 15 | 彼念爾衆順服、以恐懼戰慄接納之、則戀爾之情尤甚、 | And his inward affection is more abundant toward you, whilst he remembereth the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him. |
| 16 | 我所喜者、凡事因爾而毅然也、 | I rejoice therefore that I have confidence in you in all things. |
