절Contemporary English Version (2006)King James Version
Don't be jealous of crooks or want to be their friends. Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
All they think about and talk about is violence and cruelty. For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
Use wisdom and understanding to establish your home; Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
let good sense fill the rooms with priceless treasures. And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
Wisdom brings strength, and knowledge gives power. A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
Battles are won by listening to advice and making a lot of plans. For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
Wisdom is too much for fools! Their advice is no good. Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
No one but troublemakers think up trouble. He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
Everyone hates senseless fools who think up ways to sin. The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.
Don't give up and be helpless in times of trouble. If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
Don't fail to rescue those who are doomed to die. If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;
Don't say, “I didn't know it!” God can read your mind. He watches each of us and knows our thoughts. And God will pay us back for what we do. If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?
Honey is good for you, my children, and it tastes sweet. My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:
Wisdom is like honey for your life— if you find it, your future is bright. So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
Don't be a cruel person who attacks good people and hurts their families. Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:
Even if good people fall seven times, they will get back up. But when trouble strikes the wicked, that's the end of them. For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
Don't be happy to see your enemies trip and fall down. Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
The Lord will find out and be unhappy. Then he will stop being angry with them. Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
Don't let evil people worry you or make you jealous. Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;
They will soon be gone like the flame of a lamp that burns out. For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
My children, you must respect the Lord and the king, and you must not make friends with anyone who rebels against either of them. My son, fear thou the Lord and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
Who knows what sudden disaster the Lord or a ruler might bring? For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?

More Sayings That Make Good Sense
Here are some more sayings that make good sense: When you judge, you must be fair.
These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
If you let the guilty go free, people of all nations will hate and curse you. He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:
But if you punish the guilty, things will go well for you, and you will prosper. But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
Giving an honest answer is a sign of true friendship. Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.
Get your fields ready and plant your crops before starting a home. Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.
Don't accuse anyone who isn't guilty. Don't ever tell a lie Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.
or say to someone, “I'll get even with you!” Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
I once walked by the field and the vineyard of a lazy fool. I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
Thorns and weeds were everywhere, and the stone wall had fallen down. And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
When I saw this, it taught me a lesson: Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.
Sleep a little. Doze a little. Fold your hands and twiddle your thumbs. Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
Suddenly poverty hits you and everything is gone! So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
