The Has the Final Word We humans make plans, but the Lord has the final word.
The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord. |
We may think we know what is right, but the Lord is the judge of our motives. | All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.
Share your plans with the Lord, and you will succeed. | Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.
The Lord has a reason for everything he does, and he lets evil people live only to be punished. | The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
The Lord doesn't like anyone who is conceited— you can be sure they will be punished. | Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
If we truly love God, our sins will be forgiven; if we show him respect, we will keep away from sin. | By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.
When we please the Lord, even our enemies make friends with us. | When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
It's better to be honest and poor than to be dishonest and rich. | Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
We make our own plans, but the Lord decides where we will go. | A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.
Rulers speak with authority and are never wrong. | A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.
The Lord watches to see if we are fair or if we cheat others. | A just weight and balance are the Lord’s: all the weights of the bag are his work.
Justice makes rulers powerful. They should hate evil | It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.
and like honesty and truth. | Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.
An angry ruler can put you to death. So be wise! Don't make one angry. | The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
When a ruler is happy and pleased with you, it's like refreshing rain, and you will live. | In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.
It's much better to be wise and sensible than to be rich. | How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
God's people avoid evil ways, and they protect themselves by watching where they go. | The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
Too much pride will destroy you. | Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
You are better off to be humble and poor than to get rich from what you take by force. | Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
If you know what you're doing, you will prosper. God blesses everyone who trusts him. | He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.
Good judgment proves that you are wise, and if you speak kindly, you can teach others. | The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
Good sense is a fountain that gives life, but fools are punished by their foolishness. | Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.
You can persuade others if you are wise and speak sensibly. | The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.
Kind words are like honey— they cheer you up and make you feel strong. | Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
Sometimes what seems right is really a road to death. | There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
The hungrier you are, the harder you work. | He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.
Worthless people plan trouble. Even their words burn like a flaming fire. | An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.
Gossip is no good! It causes hard feelings and comes between friends. | A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
Don't trust violent people. They will mislead you to do the wrong thing. | A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.
When someone winks or grins behind your back, trouble is on the way. | He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.
Gray hair is a glorious crown worn by those who have lived right. | The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.
Controlling your temper is better than being a hero who captures a city. | He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
We make our own decisions, but the Lord alone determines what happens. | The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord.
