(A song for worship.) / The Is Always with His People
Our Lord, don't forget David and how he suffered.
Lord, remember David, and all his afflictions:
Mighty God of Jacob, remember how he promised: How he sware unto the Lord, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;
“I won't go home or crawl into bed Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;
or close my eyelids, I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,
until I find a home for you, the mighty Lord God of Jacob.” Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.
When we were in Ephrath, we heard that the sacred chest was somewhere near Jaar. Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.
Then we said, “Let's go to the throne of the Lord and worship at his feet.” We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.
Come to your new home, Lord, you and the sacred chest with all its power. Arise, O Lord, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.
Let victory be like robes for the priests; let your faithful people celebrate and shout. Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.
David is your chosen one, so don't reject him. For thy servant David’s sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.
You made a solemn promise to David, when you said, “I, the Lord, promise that someone in your family will always be king. The Lord hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
If they keep our agreement and follow my teachings, then someone in your family will rule forever.” If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.
You have gladly chosen Zion as your home, our Lord. For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.
You said, “This is my home! I will live here forever. This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
I will bless Zion with food, and even the poor will eat until they are full. I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
Victory will be like robes for the priests, and its faithful people will celebrate and shout. I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
I will give mighty power to the kingdom of David. Each of my chosen kings will shine like a lamp There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.
and wear a sparkling crown. But I will disgrace their enemies.” His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.
